I just purchased this TV a week ago...and from what I'm hearing now is that I made a costly mistake. Since this is not a HD set. I was told that in 2-3 years I won't be able to recieve reception via sat, cable etc...AM I Doomed?

i wouldnt say your doomed. There are converters out to down convert hd signal to work on your tv, but from what i heard they are not cheap. I wouldnt know i havnt priced them. If you only bought the tv a week ago, maybe you could turn it in for an upgrade.

I suspect that HD boxes would be able to convert the digital feed into analog which could be outputted via component, s-video or scart. There are so many non-HD display devices out there and it would be (market wise) very stupid to rule those out as unfitting display devices. As far as new TVs it is worth to verify that it has digital input (atm DVI or HDMI) with HDCP support.
