I've been wondering that myself. There has to be a way.

it was just the dashboard i had the problem with. once i got that updated, patched the games to wave 2, burnt using imgburn, verbatim discs, x2.4 and all is good. i saw that people have had problems with left 4 dead 2 so i tried it tonight and it works fine! just as in the guide

@siborg69 , could you please let me know details on the iso you got for left 4 dead 2? I'm willing to download it again and give it another shot, mine I got from megaups, and it came unrared as a 7.30gb file, didn't have a group name attached to it as far as I remember, thanks in advance... like I said the same patched to wave 2 left 4 dead game I had asking for update now boots but freezes and gives me the dirty disk error... did you do any further patching thrhough abgx or something?

thanks sicdude, I'm pretty sure I saw that release floating around somewhere, another one to try... I won't give up easy \m/ btw did you convert that one in question to wave 3 or 2? I'm still considering that patching to wave 2 could be the issue, I mean I have a 50% ratio, 3 games (1 wave 4 and 2 wave 3) were ok, while 3 other (AC2, L4D2 and NFS Shift) gave me the error after loading a bit, before the new game option or while copying to HDD.

I tried this and the another wave patcher on "GTA: Episodes from liberty city" and the game shows up but then it say's, "you need to install update"

I install, then it restarts the system and starts the whole thing over, "you need to install update", it installs the update, restarts and again, the same thing, over and over and over.

I am on 1.51 on a BenQ drive.

Also tried the "bypass disc" and would not even load.

But i got my new Sata card last friday so I flashed my 360 with the 1.61 firmware and the game, UNpatched, updated and loaded fine.

I ended up with two 3 discs that are basically coasters as i don't want to try them now because of them being patched.

Oh well, live and learn when you try to do a bypass instead of just updateing your firmware.

The reason it kept asking for an update is because when you patch an iso you remove the update, thats why i put links to the latest dash update :p

    Thanks.
Honestly i did not get the patches here but figured it messed up the update somehow so i never actually saw the links for the update. :)

Anyways, it's better to just update your 360 firmware as i did last friday.

Wow thanks Sicdude, it worked! ripped the games using image burn patched it to wave 2 and it worked, ususally ripped games with alcohol 120% but i see its no good IMG burn is the one to use for it all, now have to do the same to Assasins creed and Left for dead 2 :) thanks for the help.

what you mean by "rip the game"? rip from the dvd you had just burned or you're talking about dealing with the iso? what exactly do you do to get them to work?

I'm getting my spine chilled just to read "left 4 dead 2" and "assassin's creed", I kid you not, if I get both of them (what the hell, just l4d would do) to work patched to wave 2, before the new firmware I'll be doing cartwheels across the street.

i guess its always better to upgrade the xbox 360 ixtreme firmware because it can get irksome to patch each game or to stick in a boot disc and swap it everytime, well except also if your banned no point of getting ixtreme or stealth patching your games after that.... but this wave patchers pretty useful for the banned like me:)

well i got them from some guy in wave 4 format already on verbatims i just put it in ripped the iso image from the verbatim to the computer, then opened the MDS file ( not the iso, thats the tricky part if you just direct burn the .iso file it won't work) imgburn made using the wave patcher and click on the patch to wave 2 and patch my iso, after that just burn it using IMG burn. I only tried on modern warfare 2 ill see how the other 2 go in a bit.Oh yeah go to system setting and console then check what dash version you have latest is 2.0. 8955.0

yep that's my dash, actually after I plugged my network cable on the back of the console and had it testing the connection all my update bugs and problems were solved :D and modern warfare 2 was already working before the left 4 dead 2 incident and modern warfare didn't ask for any update, I played it while I had only the "avatars update" on, then when left 4 dead 2 came out I guess it was looking for the "facebook update", anyway, then the copy I had for l4d didn't ask for updates anymore but froze, game errors, it even gave me a green screen of sorts in the new game menu, pretty weird.

To be less confusing you simply modify the iso ( patch it to wave 2 its compatible with all firmwares exept 1.6+)BUT YOU BURN THE MDS FILE MADE BY IMG BURN ( img burn should tell you an error message if you choose the .iso instead of the .mds as the file to burn on the dual layer). If you downloaded the game im not sure if this way would work but if you have a disc of a wave 4 game you want to lower to a playable wave 2 this is the way.

Wait thats not a game problem at all......im 100% sure; im sorry to tell you but your xbox 360 is well breaking if you get like green "chips" on the screen and the game freezes it leads to 3 red lights flashing what this means is that the graphics chip has overheated and has created cold solder joints inside under the Graphics processing unit. After you restart does it still turn on? if it does its on its last leg sorry sucks.

With newer games like Modern Warfare the little graphics chip has to do a lot more work to process the graphics, it gets burning hot and the solder weakens, theres this trick where you bolt down the heatsink to the chip with well..... 5x 10 mm bolts keeps it in place.

well, in the process of figuring out what was happening I did consider hardware and I did consider mainly the dvd drive... yes I had a weird green screen and I was in fact concerned about it, and still am! that's why I need to test the games... if I had problems only with left 4 dead and AC2, well maybe just newest games were the issue but then again I tested 2 well spread releases for need for speed and prototype and both didn't work, reading errors at the second loading or so... so I just come to believe it's either the wave 2 patch, or my driver? hope it's not the cold solder thing :/

Since left 4 dead was so troublesome I have hopes it was the iso, or whatever, anyway... it worked fine without the HDD back when I had bugged updates, I played like 25 minutes, with the hdd on it would ask for update, solved the update issue and tested it, started alright but at the select your character screen the screen was pretty much ALL green, I could barely read, so I just hit the button and started playing... played for like 10 minutes, went back to the dash and proceeded to the "final test", installing to the HDD, early on the % it froze, error dirty disk. That's the history.

After that I'm playing normally, I'm playing only modern warfare 2 these last few days, but nothing weird happened as far as graphic performance goes, console boots fine and everything so far.

hmm thats pretty weird when you said completely green screen i immediately thought graphics chip is getting damaged, but you say you could still play while the green screen was happening? never heard of that usually it freezes on a chipped green screen with distorted graphics and sound while your playing then you restart to a black screen and three flashing red lights meaning the console hardware has gone bad. Hopefully this isn't your case. i guess id try formatting the hard drive if you don't care for the saves, or reburning the disc i would reburn the disc. I remember i had a copy of Gears of War 2 with a label on it for some reason id get this disc is dirty error right before the title screen then i took off the label and it worked fine but it still would give the dirty disc error once in a while till i beat it. One other thing before you burn to a dual layer check that the bottom isnt dirty or dusty if it is the laser will miss "bits" where the dust or dirt is on your blank dual layer the game will play but will skip or be unreadable or give dirty disc errors.
