So my PS2 HD recently died on me, and have been wondering if it's possible to install FFXI onto a different type of IDE hard drive.

Only thing I've found online is compatible lists of Hard Disks for HD Advance. So my question is, has anyone done/heard of FFXI being installed onto another type of HD (as long as it fits of course) and have it run perfectly? It would be better then buying another PS2 FFXI game package.

    Thanks

I have not heard of anyone doing that.

I think it will work if you patch your FFXI with a ATAD patcher or you have a modchip that autopatches the hard disk with ATAD like DMS4, Matrix Infinity, or Crystal Chip.

What exactly would I have to patch? The game install disc? The Sony HDD utility disc? Or is it possible to patch the actual HDD w/o a modchip?
