1.) Just figured out one potential problem. I did the 4.2 guide but forgot to update from 4.0u to 4.2. Now I updated. I guess I should do the guide from the beginning again now that I updated.

2.) Should I definitely be installing DVDx???

Your in the wrong guide if you updated to 4.2 firmware. You need to use the 4.2 firmware guide. As to the DVDx part I would hope most would think if it isn't in the guide then it isn't needed.

can any one help me with installing Hermes' IOS 222/223:
i get an error with a lot of zeros and when try the cIOS38_rev14 section again. i get a network error

    Hermes' IOS 222/223:

Launch the HBC and load the cIOS 222 installer.
Press A at the warning screen.
Select IOS249 to perform the install with D-pad left/right and push A
Select to Install Custom IOS 222 and select IOS38 merged with IOS37.
Make sure you get installation complete. If you do not and get an error then rerun this step again.

Launch the HBC and load the cIOS 222 installer.
Select IOS249 to perform the install
This time select Custom IOS 223 and select IOS38 merged with IOS60.
Make sure you get installation complete. If you do not and get an error then rerun this step again.

    INITIALIZING ERROR:

If you get a Initializing error when installing Hermie's 222/223 then do the below steps.

Do the DOWNGRADE IOS15/PATCH IOS36/RESTORE IOS15 again (make sure they do not give any errors).

Follow the cIOS38_rev14 section again. Make sure you select IOS36 for the IOS to run the installer with and you select NETWORK Install (DO NOT SELECT WAD INSTALL). Make sure it installs with no error.

Now try doing the Hermie's IOS222/223 section again.

I use NeoGamma R7 and cIOS38_rev14 in this guide because those are the most stable. NeoGamma R8 is still in beta. As well others have had issues with cIOS38 rev15 and rev16.

So I would recommend sticking with whats in the guide. If you want to ignore that advice then please start your own thread and ask your question there.

When I need disconnct the GC controller?
I need press "backup NAND" button using the GC contoller, so I can't just remove it....
Or did I need press "backup NAND" button using Wii's reset or power button?

Hi after removing a previous softmod install that didn't work, your guide worked beautifully, but neo gammer says the ios rev 10 is old,so i tried to reload cIOS38_rev14 to download a newer ios revision but i can't select IOS36 anymore to update when i press the dpad it goes from IOS 35 to 37 no 36
    the instructions say:_

Start the Homebrew Channel and run "cIOS38_rev14 Installer".

Select IOS36 for the IOS to use for Instillation.

    Select WAD Installation.

After the cIOS is installed the Wii should reboot to the Wii Channel menu
If i deleted the neogamma channel would that then allow me to select ios 36 again, thanks in advance

If you followed the guide start to finish you should already have cIOS38_rev14 installed. Also you should be able to select IOS36.

But anyway since you already have cIOS36_rev10 just select IOS249 when running the cIOS38_rev14 installer.

You can use a Game Cube Controler or Power/Reset to naviagte the Bootmii menu so you can backup your NAND. If you use a Game Cube Contoler don't forget to dissconnect it after you backup your NAND and exit the Bootmii menu.
