Everything you need to know is in the guide.

As well you need to do more then just place the SD card in the system. Read the guide on what to do. If you still have issues then be more specific as to what the issue is.

Did you read anything I said in my last post? I said if your having issues still then be more specific.

Saying "nothing happens" or "I'm having trouble with this wii" isn't specific enough information for us to help.

Follow the guide from start to finish. Picking and choosing what steps you want to do will not work.

But is there an IOS that you recommend to use instead of IOS249 b/c I don't want to skip a step...?

If you follow the guide from start to finish you will have IOS249 and you will be able to select it when installing hermes.

Dude you're absolutely correct. I'm trying to multitask and again ended up skipping a step.

New problem; "system menu hacks" doesn't load the menu, it goes back to the priloader menu. Any suggestion?

Dude you really need to learn how to multi-task or don't so you don't miss anything in the guide. Again the guide states to ask priiloader questions in the Priiloader guide.

    Larry,

Do you cautious repeating steps, just in case I missed a step or two during the installation? I ask this b/c my games that will play on the first wii i modded will not play on the current wii that i'm working on...and the only step that i skipped after triple checking the guide is DOP-IOS and that's b/c its optional.

Not playing isn't good enough info. What is the issue? And be specific!

The issue has been resolved but I completed your guide and was getting an error "dvd read error (1101)" in neogamma r7 and r8.

Again you probably skipped parts of the guide like you have on the last 3 or 4 post you have posted with issues. Read the Neogamma R7 warning section.

It was either that or a bad burn.

Thanks for the guide, Larry. It was very easy to follow and very thorough. I performed this mod last month, and I just realized I didn't post to thank you.

I have followed this guide with success, and now I have a couple of questions.

Should I update to 4.2U (currently on 4.1U) ? Is there any advantage ?

I also want to install bootmii and make a backup. Should I do this before updating to 4.2 ?

If I already have homebrew channel installed should I skip that part and just goto the bootmii install ?

    Thanks

    Hi Larry.
Just have to say a massive thanks.
I hadn't touched my Wii at all for over a year so forgot all about the modding process.
As you have continually suggested, I meticulously followed EVERY step IN ORDER, double checking each step of the way, and ......BINGO! It worked first time.
Thank you so much for a very well put together guide.

Sorry but I have a newbie question.
At the start of this thread are the instructions on how to hack the wii.
My question is are these instructions still valid or have they changed
    since being posted ?
If I install home brew & bootmii do I have to do all the downgrading ?
Can I just install the back up launcher ?

If it was that easy don't you think those would be the only steps in the guide?

Follow the guide as is. Do not skip any steps, all of them are there for a reason.

Also this guide is for 4.1 and below firmware. if you have 4.2 firmware then use the 4.2 firmware guide in my sig.

If you did it with a LU66, can you now run backup discs too? Os just games on an USB hard drive?

    " PATCH IOS36:

    Start Trucha Bug Restorer again.

Select which IOS to Load (Change to IOS15) and Press A.

Again after a few seconds you will get a message that says Press 1 to start the application. At that time press 1

Go to IOS36 menu and Press A.

Make sure you select the below settings...

    Install IOS to Slot: 36
    patch hash check (trucha): YES
    patch ES_Identify: YES
    patch nand permissions: YES

then go up to Install patched IOS36 and press A.

    When you see...

    <load IOS from SD card> Press A.

After preparation press A to install.

After the install is finished Press any button to exit. "

After this step my HBC turned upside down what do i do to fix it?
