so uhhhhhh read the guide. it tells you what to do if you get initializing network error/freeze.

 

Howdy there. I'm attempting to softmod my old Wii, which is running 3.4u at the moment. Following this guide, I can reach the step where you first run cIOS38_rev14 intsaller without a hitch (well, other than an upside-down HBC, which a quick reinstall fixed).

However, this step has been giving me problems. I go through the instructions provided, the program patches custom IOS, goes through adding contents, but when it hits the 'Installing Custom IOS' step of the procedure, I receive the "Install ERROR! (ret = -1035)" message before the installer finishes and prompts me to restart.

I did see the message about redownloading the WAD files and going through the downgrade/patch/restore steps again before returning to cIOS38_rev14, and have tried this several times now. Even so, I keep getting this same error no matter how many times I delete the old wads and redownload them with NUS.

Is there a known hitch of some sort that might explain the repeated errors, or is this really just a shot in the dark I'll have to keep making until it sticks? I'm going to keep trying regardless, but I figured I would at least make this post in the event that someone has some advice for me regarding this step.

Sorry for the long post, and thanks for what has so far been an excellent, easy-to-follow guide.

(EDIT: I've tried three different SD cards now, as well as running the network update option rather than WAD installation, and all return the same error message in the end.)

(EDIT #2: Scratch that; I'm good now. I found someone else with this issue back on page 22 of this thread, and the reply you gave him worked out for me as well. For any other late-comers to the thread with this issue, check page 22 for a possible solution.)

 

HEy larry ! i did follow ur guide to do everything, but i decide to use my SDHS 16gb over USB, i did change the devide to SD, when i choose to play the game and it keep saying booting......my wii keep flashing the blue light...............what did i do wrong ???
btw: it says switching to ios222 far fat support....ios(222)..FAT.. this is where is stuck.....and trust me it likes 4ever...........until i want to reset it

So I installed everything as described a few months ago and everything is working fine but suddenly neogamma r7 keeps skipping the menu screen and automatically loads the cd. It still loads the games fine but it is a bit of a pain because I'd like to get into the menu screen and be able to change some of the options.

Is there a way to force it to go to the menu screen instead of automatically loading? Why is it skipping the menu screen and automatically loading? Thanks.

edit: just kept pressing "1" and it entered into the menu screen
