I have been searching the internet for a few days now, and getting mixed messages on firmware 4.21. My question is, can I downgrade via soft mod, like a usb flash drive and some program? Or do I have to solder a board in or buy a flasher/dongle? Also I have followed the guide sticked to the top for downgrading. But i see it was last updated in 2011 or 2012. Please let me know if as of today august 2013, Im able to downgrade to a cfw. I have downloaded 3.55 ofw and 3.55 kmeaw cfw. Thanks
well all you need is a flasher depending on the model... solderless flashers fit only nor chips so if you have a nor based ps3 you can downgrade... nor chip models from CECHHxx to CECH-25xxB can be downgraded anything higher cant be downgraded... nand based ps3 need soldering.. models from CECHAxx to CECHGxx can be downgraded.. so all you need a flasher the rest is a nor/nand patcher and a cfw to install... both of them rogero did.. mind you using the patcher can get you on 4.46 cfw
http://www.ps3hax.net/showthread.php?t=33989 follow that guide but in chapter 2 you will use the patcher i posted here... then in the end if you done it right you will get the connect controller menu you will install the cfw i posted here as well... that's about it... get patcher from here http://www.tortuga-cove.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=127&t=4714 get cfw from here http://www.tortuga-cove.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=4705 the flasher is not cheap... if you don't want to spend up to 80 bucks on one just search around maybe some one is doing downgrades near where you live...
