    Failed to read file "D:"

Copy Protection Error - The read failed because the sector is encrypted

Don't think there's anything special on this one from what I remember. Try cleaning off the disc - I'm thinking you getting read errors.
I would make sure you're using the latest version of AnyDVD -5.9.4.1.
This version has a ripper in it - right click on the red fox and pick 'rip video dvd to hard drive'. Then open those files in Clonedvd.
Or you can also try dvd decrypter to rip this disc (great on those hard to read ones) then open the vidoe_ts from decrypter in Clonedvd to finish.

Give dvd decrypter a shot - that one is one helluva ripper (sometimes even on those 'marred' ones).

I've had this happen before; tried AnyDVD, DVD Decryptor, FABDVD, & DVD Shrink (all latest version), turns out it was a bad Disc. Try another.

just as one last chance try the build in anydvd ripper that comes with anydvd 5.9.4.1 and it may do it.

VOBB has been successful for me in ripping damaged discs. Try that before you toss it.

Otherwise, no, there's nothing special about this movie. If you have the latest version of AnyDVd, you'll be fine.

I thought the movie was pretty funny, is one of the very few that I did a full disc backup, the some extras were pretty good. I think I used just Shrink or DVD Decrypter. Get a different disc.

Like most people said, it's gotta be the disc.

I did 40 year old virgin using nothing but Shrink.

    thread teleported to relevant forum.

i too did this movie with just DVD Shrink on it's lonesome, however we all have different problems with these damn protections so something that won't fail in this case is DVDFab Decrypter (free) to rip entire DVD to hard disc then use DVD Shrink on the folder than DVDFab created. i can't comment on clonedvd2 as don't have it. i know a fair bit about AnyDVD but don't have that either

Whenever i try to even open up 40 yr old virgin in a ripping software, my computer restarts. I have AnyDVD, CloneDVD2, CloneDVD mobile, DVD Shrink, and it restarts when i try any of those. I have my AnyDVD configured with all the things checked except for the ones regarding region code... what is up?

    **update**
i have found that i can directly use dvd shrink for it when AnyDVD is off. What is wrong with my AnyDVD?

    1. bad disc, it may look visually good but it still has small defects.
    2. DVD Rom diver issues or settings...maybe firmware?
I only use DVD Decryptor and FABdecryptor, nothing else with DVD shrink. Have one of your buddies try it. if it works then you need to check all your config, you are missing something. I have Lite-on and NEC drives, they work everytime. A buddy I know has a Sony drive and he sometimes has issues, don't know why.

It was very easy, just used DVDFabDecryter, DVDShrink and Nero OEM 6.6.0.19, no problem what so ever. Really seems like bad disc. You should exchange it and see what happens. Does your burner play it? The movie is very funny, well worth watching.
