Any one know were I can buy a 44 pin (male) to 40 pin (male or famele)IDE adapter or cable. It's the only thing I need for a small project I'm working on, I don't want to have to solder 40 cables to a laptop mobo. All I need to do is hook up a 3.5 hard drive to 2.5 interface. I don't need the extra 4 pins on the 2.5 IDE side.

can't do that unless you add 12v to the adapter as 3.5" drives need 12v to spin the motors whereas 2.5" only needs 5v.

I have never seen the adapter go that way. Only from a 2.5in drive to a 3.5 in connector.

I found it was hard to find. I know that the 3.5 hard drive need the 5 & 12s volts line I'm using a custom psu for my project. Thanks for the replies.
