OK, don't worry as this is AMD vs AMD. I do NOT need ANYTHING posted here about Intel becasue I have an AMD mobo and I do not want to buy a new one just to upgrade to a "better" (matter of opinion of some, please do not mention Intel here!!) processor.

Now that that is out of the way let me ask you guys, I am looking into upgrading my CPU in about 2 months (hopefully, it WILL happen if my new job pays well!) and was looking through Newegg for CPUs.

    I noticed these CPUs inparticuar:

    FX-57:

    X2 4800+:

    X2 4600+:

Now, I am not sure if I want to drop 1k bones on a processor as they go "out of date" so fast (By that I mean the Top-of-the-Line FX-57 might not be TotL in 6 months) and it might be better for the wallet to get a 4600+.

I am also thinking of upgrading my GPU to a 7800 Series card (see sig for current specs) I want to see what you guys think on this matter.

This machine will be used for MAINLY gaming (~98%) and some DVD backups will also be done (using CCE and DVD-RB of course!)

So, what do you people think? FX-57 or AMD 4800+? 7800GTX or 7800GT?
Remember this is MAINLY a gaming rig, with some DVD backups done now and then.
