Im looking for the best cooler for my sapphire 4870. These are what Ive seen so far http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...namitedata.com http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...namitedata.com http://www.driverheaven.net/reviews.php?reviewid=548 http://www.thermalright.com/new_a_pa...ler_hr03gt.htm anymore would be a big help to me. my budget is about 35-40$ max.. (50 if Completely neccisary) I have pci slot fan so a gpu heatsink will have cooling already. thanks.
links have been double pasted, and so are broken. However, what I would recommend for a 4870 is this: http://www.performance-pcs.com/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=24389
oops... sorry bout that.. your choice was actually one of the links. it was that and these http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835118001&ref=dynamitedata.com http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835186016&ref=dynamitedata.com http://www.driverheaven.net/reviews.php?reviewid=548 http://www.thermalright.com/new_a_page/product_page/vga/hr03gt/product_vga_cooler_hr03gt.htm I was deciding on the HR-03 gt and the Accelero S1.. I have a Pci slot fan so I only wanted a heatsink so the fan can be off and still keep the card cool. Im going for a silent (or quieter) PC. I was also looking for a 0v-12v fan controller with enough watts to power the HAF 932's 230MM fans. I want to turn some of when idle or light use light movie watching. Ill probably make it a whole nother thread though (unless you know some of the back) thanks
No, actually look at the link I posted. It is not an HR-03GT, it is a T-Rad. Avoid the VF900, not powerful enough, avoid the Accelero S1 as it can all too easily destroy your card like one did mine. That dual 70mm fan cooler will need to be very loud to be effective. As for the fan controller, use what I use, a Sunbeam Rheobus (preferably the 6-channel Extreme version)
I just got the HR-03 from xoxide... going out of business sell, plus a 92 Gelid gaming fan. I installed it but Im getting about 46-52C idle and 65C load which isnt all that great. Could the problem be the zalmans thermal paste? I was thinking about getting artic 5 compound: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835100007 Also, do you install it like cpu compound? I just put some on without spreading it and put the heatsink on. If it helps the 92mm fan is half way covered by my sound card, but the fan is blowing in the opposite direction so it shouldnt matter. Very similar to the 3rd picture on this page: http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=203023&page=3 Thanks
65ÂșC load is reasonably good for a 4870, at least it is if you're using a low fan speed. If you want better, consider changing the thermal paste or looking into your case ventilation.
Im going to change the thermal paste to arctic 5, but what do you suggest for venilation? (im at max fan speed, 2000rpm)
Ehh?.. I have a HAF 932.. not too many cases beatin that.. I might get the 4 120mm fans on the side instead of that 1 230mm that moves NO air.
Been thinkin about this for awhile, Its just gonna cost. What would you suggest for high airflow but low noise? (besides noctua..It makes my case look ugly..lol)
