I'm using philips cd-r's. LITE-ON OEM 48X burner. It says it completed at 48x, but it's obviously not burning that fast. I ran the nero speedtest and it topped out at 16x. this is my neroping log.

    What could be causing this?
    NeroPing V1.10
    Initialize Win Aspi32........Ok
    Start scanning device.....

    Host Adapter = 0
    [Target ID = 0] 'WDC WD80 0BB-00JHA0 05.0 '

    Host Adapter = 1
    [Target ID = 0] 'LITE-ON COMBO SOHC-4832K OQKB '

    Host Adapter = 2
    [Target ID = 0] 'NERO IMAGEDRIVE2 2.26 '

    Finish scanning..............Ok

    Thanks!
    Dan

it may depend on what disc you had in the drive at the time if you had a DVD in there or a CDRW this may cause it to seem slow 48x is only for CDRs
