    hi everyone,

so i've got two 4gb ipod mini's. one 1st gen, one 2nd gen. i took them both apart to replace the lcd screens, and now they're both dead. i've tried resetting them by holding down the center button and menu button, and they're not recognized when i plug them into a computer. any ideas on what i've done, or how to fix it?

well first thing to do is open them back up, make sure lcd and battery are plugged in all the way, but before you do that do some research on the net to make sure the lcd's on both ipods are compatible with each other, if they are compatible the go ahead take them both apart, and make sure everything is plugged in all the way. Good Luck

yeah, i've double checked that. the lcd's are not compatible between the two generations - the ribbon cable on the 1st gens is about half as wide as the 2nd gen versions, so the lcd's aren't mixed up. i'm kind of thinking i managed to fry the logic board in them, but i've got no way to test that.
