4th XBOX 360 Refurbished Replacement NO GOOD!

    My wife and I sat in line outside of a Target for 14 hours. It was cold, but we were excited. The most anticipated system was about to be released, or so we thought. Within the first month it started freezing up. As it locks up, all you can think is "When did I last save?"

    Okay, fine. I called XBOX (Microsoft) and told them what was happening. "We'll send you a box to ship it in", they told me. Great, I sent it back. 2 1/2 weeks went by and finally, I got it back. They even sent me a new game (Kameo) so I was pretty good with the service. Happy as can be, I went to playing. (Withdrawels were setting in) Almost immediately, it started again. First it just locked up, then started blinking three red lights.

    I searched online for fixes and tried everything. I placed a fan behind it, a fan in front of it to draw out the heat, placing it away from the TV, on top of its very own stand, etc. Nope. It would work enough to come on and get me excited that it was going to be okay, then checkerboards and lines filled my screen.

    Again, I called XBOX (Microsoft) and again they sent me out a box. Again, they decided to send me a game (Kameo, again!) to make up for the problem. Four weeks went by and everytime I called, they'd say they already sent me a box to return it in. Finally, I received a box.

    Then, we got it back. I enjoyed it for about a month, then it did it again. Lines, checkers, red lights on the power button, numerous calls to XBOX. They then try to tell me that my warranty is expired. What? 60 days? I didn't even get 60 days worth of playing because of the problems.

    Finally, they decide to send another box. Again, it never came. I have to call again and again. 5 days later, I get the box. Great, I send it back again. 1 1/2 weeks later, I get it back. During this time, they send me an Intercooler. Plus, I had requested the new power cord and AV cable. I received them before I got the box to send it back in!

    I just received it back (they tell me they sent me a replacement every time) and I played it for one day! Yes, I said ONE DAY!!! Remember, this time it had their Intercooler on it, the fans, its own separate shelf away from the TV, etc. Now, they tell me they don't think they can do anything for me because my warranty has expired. WTF? It has NEVER been right. I spoke to a supervisor and he says I have to wait 72 business hours or so for someone to get back to me. ( What's that? 1 1/2 weeks?)

    All I want is a system that works. They keep sending me these "refurbished" systems and tell me that they are "Good as new." I am so fed up. For all these people that think a lawsuit is not in order, think again! I didn't jump to that. I gave them chances, over and over. I even asked that they just send me a coupon for a new system in one of the local stores or just for them to send a new one. Nope. It must be too much trouble to do that. Making a customer happy can't possibly be a priority. Now here I sit. Out of 6 months, I have had a system in my possession that is usable for maybe 2 1/2 months.

    A die hard XBOX fan (mainly due to Halo) is thinking really hard about the new Playstation. I'm ready to say FU to Microsoft and scrap any hope of ever having a good system.

    This is their last chance. Anyone else tired of giving them every chance in the world to make it right, just let me know. I'll be right there with ya!

    you know what you do...put a firm voice down..i meem FIRM!!!
    curse and everything..mention sony a couple of times and say that this is ur 5 or what not xbox and say you are fed up...i bet u they will treat you like a king....
    if not tell them to send you a full refund and tell them to shove the 360 where the sun dont shine

    its not just microsoft that does that ignorant sh*t


    TRY TALKING TO BELLSOUTH OR LINKSYS...they suck too and most of them dont know half the sh*t they are tryin to explain to u....

    Those MoFo's!!! You didn't purchase a refurbished Xbox, that's what I would of told them! They would have had to send me a new one, especially after I've dished out over $500 for the consolde and all the damn accesories. It sad to say that we are just a bunch of beta testers in Microsofts eyes, if they really gave half a shit they would have sent you a new console a long time ago.. I hope you can share some good news with us here at Afterdawn, tell us you received a new Xbox and not a refurbished unit that won't stay on longer then 5 minutes, that's horseshit!!! Sorry, but I'm venting right now, can believe what i'm hearing, good luck 03cobra...

    Does it lock up when you see "checkerboards and lines"? If so, I would definitely look into the lawsuit. Obviously they are sending the same one back to you over and over.

    Yeah, it locks up every time any of these things happen. I just can't believe that they can't send me a new console. I still haven't heard back from them. I don't expect to at all. I will just have to keep calling and calling, like I normally have to.

    I am seriously thinking I may file a Small Claims suit. They aren't allowed to have attorney's there and I can sue them for a brand new console or my money back. I think any judge would back me up, especially since I have kept all of my records, boxes, confirmation numbers, etc.

    I marked my last XBOX I sent back, so I would know if this was the same one. It wasn't. But, it still lasted only the one day.

    For those who think that I didn't give it any resting time, think again. I only played it for maybe a 1/2 hour the night I got it. Then in the morning, I played for a small period of time. As soon as I thought it seemed a little hot, I quickly turned it off. Then, when I went back to play it, it didn't work. I got the big freeze I have gotten so used to seeing.

    Well...they have gone ahead and started another repair ticket and I have requested a new XBOX not a rebuild. The notes will now reflect that I want a new one. I hope it works out the way it should! I will keep you all updated.

    My first xbox, lasted me prolly 4 months. I heard all people on fourms say they were having problems, I thought I had a good one that was going to last me for awhile. A week later it got the red lights and the checkerboard screen. They sent me the box and sent me a new one, this one lasted about a month max, same problem, I call they say no problem we will send you another. This will be my 3rd one I really hope I dont go through 5 like yourself. I thought I was getting it bad but 5 times? damn. Anyways im in the waiting process again.

    Alough when I called they gave me no problems.

    Also how can you tell if you got a new one or refurbished? When they sent me mine they said it was taking to long to fix and insted they just sent me a new one? Im guessing it was refurbished?

    Well anyways good luck to you man, and hope they get it right.

    Dude I just got my Xbox 360 back from repair also (Well not my Xbox 360, A Replacement)I was like WTF A Replacement ?.. Anyhow , I booted the console , Set the Time etc. Put In NFS:MW, It booted to the EA screen and It froze. hmmm I thought , So I took out the Disc ,Powered down the Console. Restarted It and no Audio/Video Signal .. My first thought THIS CAN'T BE HAPPENING ! .. A Replacement console first of all and the Damn thing won't work. I am now sending this broken POS back and Hopefully getting a Brandnew Console. We shall See

    P.S. How does Microsoft Replaced Our Console's with a Second Hand POS ?

    I thnik it would be hard to sue microsoft since its such a rich company. They would probably have so many lawers and such it would be difficult sue them. Also how did you mark your xbox like witha marker, sticker etc. Because they could of some how "took of" the thing that you marked it with. It oculd stil be the same 360. So im wondering if you got a new one or stil the same one over and over again.

    Thanks god I have a good one so far. I wouldn't have to go through all the crap you are going through.

    Well you never know hell it could brake down on you today all what you know. But your probably right you most likly have a god one.

    WRITE DOWN THE SERIAL NUMBERS, SO THAT YOU WILL BE ABLE TO TELL IF THEY ARE SENDING YOU THE SAME ONE?

    Ok guys, I just got my xbox 360 2 weeks ago. I probleyed played on it for 10 hours the most. Sometimes when I put the game in I would get a error which looks like this. ("To play this game put it in a xbox 360 system.) sometimes the games would boot perfect. Anyways I call M$ and they said we will send you a box which they did. Now im waiting to see whats going to happan? What do you guys thing? Will they fix it or send me a used one? Also how do you know that your getting a used system but not a new one?

    I got a feeling it might be the game because my brother has an Xbox 360 too and his Kameo game did that in his xbox and in my xbox but none of my games ever do that in either Xbox

    thing is that it does that on the two games i have, not just one. Alos i just checked the two games. They both look fine. they are not scratced bad at all.

    Frig, that blows. Even though I like Xbox 360 alot it sure seems to have quite a few problems.

    my 360 seems to run fine even when i play for 9 hours straight but mine does have that message (To play this game put it in a xbox 360 system) sometimes so i dont know if that means that i might have more problems in the future or not.....i hope not though i'd rather not go through all the stuff with microsoft to get it fixed since i sent my last regular xbox in 3 times and it still doesnt work right

    I've never had a problem with my Xbox 360 either. I'll have to keep my fingers crossed for the future
