I have had the Liteon 5045 for a month now and have had no problems doing the basics of recording to HDD, timed recordings, coping to DVD.

But tonight I have made a major error in accidently erasing the HDD instead of a DVD.

Is there anyway to pull the HDD, hook up to a PC and try and recover the files?

    Hopeful

Thanks - I will look around on that forum. I have read too many comments on problems from defrag that I have not done one.

    Thank You
Harpmaker comment on that forum concerning recovery of lost files gets right to the bottom line. The drive in the 5045 can be taken to a PC I have tried to recover some lost files with no real success.
If anyone has Please post the prociedure.

I had a lawyer that kept his files on a HDD [with no backup] and lost everthing when the HDD was erased. Good thing it didn't bite the dust and was just erased and not written to. I sent the drive out to a compayy that recovered almost all the files. They charged over $600 for this servic and he was happy.
