I am facing a move from the US to Singapore. After reading, I have come to realize that my media collection will be non-functional in Singapore without some conversion. I have searched the forums looking for tips and have found no thread addressing a generic conversion issue. I have come to the conclusion that to convert my media collection will be impossible due to time and CPU power availability. Therefore I am looking for some hardware to change 220 50Hz into 110 60Hz then I can plug in a small US TV, DVD player and VCR, and not lose access to my entire collection when I have to move. Is anyone knowledgeable about such a device? Thanks!
Well this the plug type. You'll also need to know what the total wattage of your devices is. Give these folks a call after you've figure out the wattage. http://www.action-electronics.com/trnsupdn.htm
You may consider Region Free DVD player, which many of those work with both 220/110v. Or it may be more convenient to see it on PC and Monitor. (You do not need to take TV/VCR/DVD player.) http://buyersguide.bargainoffers.com/region_free_dvd_guide.shtml There used be for VCR too. Though I’m nor sure how easy to get it now. I’m sure you can find it there at Singapore. Good luck at Singapore.
Yes, a region free DVD player will cover my DVDs, but just last night I watched Return of the Jedi on my VHS. Seriously, I have a couple hundred training tapes I need to show my son. So I'll follow the advice to look at a hardware solution. Thanks all!
