I recently (2 weeks ago) purchased a Nokia 6230i from Vodafone in Ireland. I have not used it in Ireland but had it sent to me in the US where I am a T-Mobile customer. I unlocked the phone and it all worked great. 2 days ago, the phone was ringing and I picked it up. After the call, I had no signal. I then learned the phone was not receiving signal anywhere. I had another T-Mobile phone which worked fine and no matter what car I put in the 6230i, I get no signal. I have power cycled, called Vodafone & T-Mobile and Nokia. All no help! I have also done a factory reset on the phone, also no good. Anyone have any idea what could have happened?! Thanks!
The same thing happened to me, I got given an unlocked 6230 from a mate who upgraded. It worked fine for about 2 weeks, then all went tits up about a week ago. I woke up and noticed my phone had no signal. Baffeled by this, I tried using manual operator select with no avail. I tried a few more times later that day and it suddenly worked. It worked for a further day, then the same thing happened, the signal dissapeared. I took it to a shop to get repaired, they came up with the idea the ariel was broken, so they orderd a new one for me. It arrived, they swapped it and no difference. They told me to come back in a few days time, I did so and they had came up with the idea the transciever on the phones motherboard was buggered and needed replacing and were wanting to charge me a silly price. I took the phone back. I didn't think that was the problem because when searching for an operator the phone displayed the avaliable operators in the area and also I noticed when switching my sim card from an old phone back into the 6230, the 6230 would start up with 1 bar of signal and display my operators logo "o2 - uk" and then after a few seconds dissapear again. I am rather confused as to why this is happening and am currently in search of knowledge to fix the problem. I've also tried resetting the phone to factory defaults, but that made no difference. Any Ideas??????????
