I'm currently in the market for a HDTV and was wondering if which of the following are the best?

720p, (heard that it's better than the 1080i)

    1080i

    or 1080p (heard it wasn't out...yet)

So which one do you think?

By the way, my budget is 3500 :)

    Doggy_Bot,

720p is 720 lines Progessive Scan (Kind of a "read ahead" from what I can tell)

But, true HDTV is 1080i which is 1,080 lines Interlaced (I believe). That means you have over 300 lines MORE in 1080i which results in better, more life like pictures etc.

Anyway, 99% of HDTVs that support 720p support 1080i. I have a Mitsubishi HDTV 1080 Series with a integrated HDTV decoder (I think thats what its called, a decoder)

Its very good and I believe its under $3500 (Though I maybe wrong)

    Peace

    Hey Doggy_Bot (again!)

If you want a 1080p HDTV you will probably have to wait a while, I am not sure what the price is on those but, I just read an ad on a 1080p HDTV about a month ago. If I find a link I will post.

correct me if im wrong here but from experience, the nfl broadcasts in 720p. it is said that because it is progressive scan that it is actually in comparison to 1080i it would actually be 1440i because of the progressive scan. all i know is this ive read that nad believe it because fox puts out the finest picture out there during nfl season. but you really cant tell the difference on a good hd channel broadcasting at 1080i. i just want people to remember this from my experience. not every channel on the tv will be hd most look like crap. if you have cable anything analog looks terrible. but the only sharp channels are hd. i would wait until there is more hd channels available and until it becomes more wide spread
