I have a 1080p tv and my dad has a 720p tv. On both of these tv's, the 1080i channels (CBS, NBC...) are clearly better quality than the 720p channels (FOX, ABC...). This is the case for shows as well as sports on both tv's. It makes sense to me that the 1080p television looks better with a 1080i source, but the 720p tv seems like it should look better with a 720p source, since that is supposedly the max resolution it can output. Anybody know why the 720p plasma looks better with a 1080i source rather than a 720p source?

    thanks

On the TV that is 720P, the 1080i program is in 720P. ABC, and FOX use 720P because it is supposed to be better for action (sports), than 1080i, which is supposed to be better for stills (less action). I can not actually detect a difference between the football game on CBS, or FOX (my tv is 1080i capable).
