What brand is the hdd? Using software intended for the hdd (of reg. size, store bought) should aid in formatting it. I've also had success in using partition magic.

Go to the site of the hdd. Get a startup disc/installation disc whatever it is they have for that particular brand. If you bought it, it may still be in the box if you have it.

Plug up the hdd and boot your system. Run the software and it will search you system for all new hardware of it's kind. Once it finds it, format to NTSC use it as a storage drive.

If it is going to be a boot drive plug it up to your desktop. I you have several drive and unsure about things, unplug all the others. Set it as the Master or as cable select. Make sure you system is set with the boot order as the 1st to boot. Input the O/S cd and restart the system. You will set up your O/S like normal and you will have converted your 80gb former xbox hdd to a PC boot drive.

    Hope that helps.

Thanks for your response, I have the disk for the hard drive, it is a Seagate and when I run the disk it says it completes the process of formatting, but nothing happens, thanks.
