It will have to be double sided, as your burner will not support dual layer.

Has anyone tried these with a Sony Dru-500A writer ? I really like the idea of getting twice as much data on 1 disk which will save a lot of shelf space & require the purchase of fewer cases when you buy blanks via spindles. .

I guess I wasn`t clear enough when I started this thread. I was looking for 9.4 on one side. I was sure I read about them in PC mag. They obviously aren`t on the market or someone would have heard of them. Thanks for the input anyway.

Bummer. I was hoping it would be double layered instead of double sided. But then again I don't have a double layer burner.

I use DVD Decrypter, IFO Edit and Pinnacle Instant Copy. Instant Copy will format your DVD so any DVD player will recognize it with no problem and fit an entire DVD9 into a DVD5.

There is no single sided DVD-R media available offering over 4.36GB. Period. It may happen in the future, but will not be backwardly compatible and will probably not succeed commercially either. In other words it will be a whole new technology with new hardware etc, much the same way DVD was to CD when it came out.

9.4GB DVD-R is two sided, more than twice the price and often lower standard than single sided.

    Paul.
