I am trying to disable the DVD check so I can replace my DVD drive with another hard drive. I know you can use XBtools or EVtools but I'm not sure where to find my bios settings or how to change them. So, first off, is there an easy way to disable the DVD check? And secondly, what else would I need to do in order to run a second hard drive?
Evtools works, just uncheck "Dvd drive check" when you make the bios, and you should be good. You will also need a power splitter to get power to the new drive, if you dont already have one, they sell them at llamma.
Okay, I have both of those things, but where do I get the bios from? I have a bios.bin in a backup from EvoX but I get an error when I try to open that in EVTools. Kernel extraction error is says. BTW, My xbox is softmodded, I don't know if that matters.
EvTools only works with the m8 bios. I know absolutely nothing about softmodding, but I don't think you can flash a bios with a softmodded xbox. Therefore you can't use EvTools. Sorry, I can't help you with a softmod.
