Because not all versions of Armax have the media player option.

    2. Max Memory (mc manager)

If you have a slim then you need to buy the Ar Max with the media player.

If you have a FAT PS2, you can install an exploit.

Bit of a problem, only got one backup I can try at the moment and I'm loath to burn more since the pack od DVDs cost me twenty poxy quid. I'm trying to get Pop:Two Thrones to run (the backup) using Cogswap. Using Champions of Norrath as my original disk since it has a very high TOC.

I get the "PS2 Game" message fine, make the switch, the game boots, then ... nothing. The "Loading" screen you recieve if you boot an original copy, only this one doesn't actually load, ever. Any advice would be appreciated.

Using Verbatim 2.4x media to burn onto.

Is this a PAL game on a NTSC PS2. You might need to patch the ISO.

You can try using cdloader.elf first and see if it will load it.

I haven't found any yet for this using Armax.

But there are codes for Codebreaker on this game. User created ones.

Nay, the backup is PAL, PS2 is PAL too. I'll add CDLOADER.elf to my MC exploit and try that.

Do I really need to use Max Media Creator to make the cdloader.elf CD or can I just do it another way like for ex: Cd writing wizard(windows).

I think I know the answer to this but I'm going to ask it anyway, will the two exploit cd's work if I burn them on some CD-RW instead of CD-Rs?

Will the exploit work with a FAT 39000 series ps2?

I can't remember for sure if you do or not.
    You can find it here.

    No
Yes it should, but again, I have never tried it.
The FAT V7 does recognize usb devices and Ar Max works fine on it.

There are now tutorials on how to install Free_mcboot 1.5 on a memory card and then be able to use ESR to play any backup(patched with memento disc patcher)

And I have a link in my profile page to another method using ar max.
The link is in the first comment I made.

Hi! I'm new at this. I bought ARMAX v3.70 and I have a slim PS2 WITH MODCHIP. I'm just wondering how can I play my backup PS2 games with cheats on it. It seems that ARMAX is not recognizing the disc. I read some of the forums and instructions there are for w/o a modchip. Thanks.

Okay, as far as I can tell, everything is done to the key for when I tried to do this method.

ALL OF THIS IS ON SLIMLINE PS2.

I put the ARMAX disc in, it loads, I go to media player, and load it.
I put the CDLOADER.ELF disc in and load the program, which is successful.
This is where the issue starts.

When I put the ARMAX disc in to have it show PS2 CD in the corner, that part is fine. But when I put the cogswap disc in, it either brings up an error and I have to re-try it, or when the picture goes red-tinted, the border changes pink and doesn't do anything. The disc does continue to spin, doesn't stop, and it doesn't go anywhere after this.

Can someone please help me figure out the problem to get past this? It would be greatly appreciated.

Do you have magic keys or Swap Tool pro installed on your Slim PS2.

To play backups that way you will need modify the slim with the Swap Tool Pro set(which is newer version of magic keys)

Seeing you have the Ar Max with Media Player, you can install Free McBoot and then use the ESR 9a .elf to play backups.

This works well on unmodded PS2 and is easy to install.

okay, i was able to install MC boot, but now i'm am unsure of how yo use it properly and set it up to run backups

would you be generous enough to help me get past that stage as well?
also, if you could link neccessary files that i would have to load up, that would be great.

Ok thats great. Now I should know which Version of fmcb did you install, but basically below info should help you out.

Now if you installed the BOOT.ELF along with the fmcb
It will have have said writing your own BOOT.ELF like in this picture.

When you start up your PS2 with the mc in, you should see the uLaunch screen.

Here is a uLaunch tutorial to help you understand what uLaunch can do.

Basically you select FILEBROWSER by pressing O, but you can later change that to X if you want by selecting CONFIGURE,then scroll down to STARTUP settings, choose PAD Layout and change it to X:OK O: Cancel

Then scroll down to RETURN, Then scroll down to OK, and it should save your configuration.
You would then have to restart uLe for the changes to take effect.

Any to play backups you need ESR 9a along with the ESR disc patcher GUI v0.24a.rar , which you will find both of these in this post.
    http://psx-scene.com/forums/freevast/58441-esr-public-beta.html

The PS2 ISO image you have backed up needs to be patched first with the ESR disc patcher in order to work with ESR 9a or other versions of ESR.

So you need to copy the ESR 9a Direct DVD.elf file to your usb device, then using uLaunch , you will copy it to your mc by selecting FILEBROWSER in uLe
Then choose mass:/ and you should see your elf file, then HIGHLIGHT the elf file, SELECT R1 and choose Copy, then hit Triangle for RETURN, and browse back to mc0, and SELECT R1 again, and choose Paste

Now hit SELECT button on your PS2 controller, and you should be at the uLe main menu.

Choose Configuration , scroll down to the R1
    [IMG]

Press 0 to Browse or X if you changed it, and locate your ESR 9a.elf file on mc

Then just scroll down to OK, and press X or O depending how you have it set up

Now when you put in a patched backup in the PS2, you can start up and then just press R1 to load the backup.

There are other methods to get ESR launched, but I don't want to confuse you yet and can explain them later.

This thread here may be of help also.
