My Action Replay doesn't have the media player, I just bought it yesterday so I can this out. Is this possible to do without the media player?
It is very hard to find the action replay with media player. I believe its version 3.36 and lower. Ones who have bought here described on pages 15-16 what theirs looked like when they bought it at bestbuy. It should have less codes also, and may say in RED that it contains the media player. There are a couple fellows on psx-scene who will install fmcb for you if you live in the states. You just need to send them mc plus money to return it back to you. Just check the freevast thread.
will fmcb work on slim ps2s? The thing that sucks for me the most is that I had originally bought the 3.30 armax, but it wouldn't boot up, then I returned it and got a newer one... If fmcb doesn't work on the slim, my friend did something to boot psx backups/imports: He put a twisty-tie in censor 1, then put cardboard in sensor 2 so the disk spins, censor 3 doesn't need blocking on our model numbers (we both have SCPH-79001). Then he turned the ps2 on, and went to browser, put a ps1 game in, took the twisty-tie out and put it back in, then when the disk appeared next to the memory card icon on the screen, he just took the disk out and put in a backup and hit X on the disk icon, then it booted just like an original game. would that work with ps2 games, or is the only way to do this with Action replay or one of those "swap-magics" that i've heard about
Yes fmcb works great on slims, and then using ESR by ffgriever to play backups is great. The tutorials are all here: http://bootleg.sksapps.com/tutorials/fmcb/ And the topics are here: http://psx-scene.com/forums/freevast/
If you install Free McBoot on a Fat PS2, it will still work on a Slim afterwards, right? And do you have to install it individually on each memory card or once it's on one, you can just use the "copy" feature on the PS2 and copy it onto other cards? Thanks smokyrain, you've helped lots of people out.
Thanks lackyno, I don't mind helping them out at all. Yes if you install Free McBoot on a FAT using the Multi-Install, it will work on PS2 slim after of the same region. Yes you need to install it individually to each memory card. , you can't just copy it onto other cards. And for those who can't install, there are a quite a few guys on psx-scene who will install for you. And don't charge anything. You just have to pay for shippng your mc to them and back.
hello everybody i have a question for you smokyrain. why isn't this tutorial working on a slim ps2?? i have tried it with a slim right now but the only problem i have right now is that the ps1 game is booting then the cdloader or the ulaunch boot thing........this sucks....i have tried every way that i don't have to mod my ps2 or to buy the action replay cd again only for this media player.....i will test it with another ps1 game to get sure...... however back to the start of my post..why isn't it working with a slim ps2 (sorry my english is bad) thx for the answer
is this forum about to boot backup's with the ac max cd or about to play with codes from you ar max cd with backups?......my problem is the second. or does anybody know a trick without ar max +media player cd.? i have a ar max without the media player function and i can't load the codes into my ffxii. when i boot the ps2 normally it's stops at the message with "ensure your game disk is inserted" and when i click on it the messages comes up again". then i tested it to boot the armax cd with fmbc....after the cd switch and the code choosing, i came up with the message again....i switched the cd with my ffxii backup and then it comes up with the window "launching game" with the datel logo above, but there it's freezing.... i hoped that anybody know to get the trick without the media player, because i was looking around in every shop near my home and nobody is selling this. i was reading in forums that on german ebay the people selling the ar max cd without media player (even when it's writen in the description). i don't want to have a try.
These methods are about booting backups with the armax cd. The only way to use the armax codes with a backup is to have a copy of the armax evo for Swap Magic. Read through this page to see the method on how to use the Armax for Swap Magic to use cheat codes. http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/8/216060 Armax does not work with fmcb. Codebreaker10.elf thats patched for hdloader will work with fmcb. http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/3/704694#4315912
hey. first of all i will be really grateful to anyone who takes the times to answer my question. here it is... i am trying to play backup games on my slim ps2 using AR max, so i tryed following through the guide on this post, but the "Independence Compiler Program 3.0" fails to make a bin/cue file for making the cogswaploader disc, so i'm stuck at this point. Does anyone know how another way of making the cogswaploader disc? or another method i could use?
I got this thing working(i don't use the media manager thing), but I can only get ps1 backups working. My CD/DVD burner won't detect blank DVDs, can someone tell me whats going on?
hi i have action replay version 3.70 and it does not have the media player is there anything i can do or am i screwed
Yes you are screwed sorry to say. It has to be the one with media player. If you want you can get someone to install fmcb 1.8 to a mc for you. It only costs you the postage to them and back to you. http://bootleg.sksapps.com/tutorials/fmcb/ Scroll down for the link to the guys who will do this.
That is the link yes... It will say INSTALL SERVICES Anyway here is the direct link http://psx-scene.com/forums/freevast/58851-free-service-i-can-install-fmcb-for-you.html
I'm confused about this "Eject disc tray normally and put in an "big"/"high TOC" official PS2 game (like GTA)" So does it have to be a special game with a "high toc" (whatever that means) or will any game work?
Here is a list of TOC http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/178418 It has to be bigger than the backup you are going to swap with.
