1.) I just got DVD Shrink v.3.2.0.15 and I am tryin to back up Tupac Resurrection. It is not shrinking it down to fit on the DVD. My video compression is set to automatic. It is coming out at 4,516mb. Im sure I am doing something wrong, just not sure what. When I click backup it says the file is too big.

2.) I read somewhere else thers a box you click from dvd shrink to take it straight to dvddecrypter. Where is this or is it not in the version I am using?

Thank you in advance for your help.

    (1) You can change the compression to a custom level like 4,300 or 4,200 even (depending on how close to the edge of the DVD-R you're comfortable with burning). I have mine set to 4,300. (2) In the version of Shrink that I have, when you click "backup" you get lots of options -- if you want to burn with Decrypter, you have to have Shrink make the DVD an .iso image -- under "target device" select the ".iso disc image" option, then under "select target image file" tell Shrink where you want it to put the image & what you want it to call it. At that point you should also see a box with "Launch DVD Decrypter to burn the output image." Click the box.

Ok, I already ripped the DVD earlier thinking it was going to shrink to where it should be automatically. I was wrong, now when I put in the tupac movie it automatically recalls it without ripping it and previewing it. I cant change the levels because they were already set. If I uninstall and reinstall it, it still remmebers the disc. Where is this info stored so I can delete it? Thank you in advance.

Shrink puts its analysis files in Documents and Settings / All Users / Application Data / DVD Shrink. (These are HIDDEN files, so make sure you have "show hidden files" in your computer settings.) If your list is like mine, when you open that folder, you should see a bunch of files that start with "Analysis Results" (or maybe just one if you've only done one DVD!). You should be able to just delete that file and Shrink won't know it's already done an analysis on it.

After you do this DVD, be sure to change your compression setting to, say, 4300mb rather than the 4,516 that Shrink seems to have set. Then you won't have this problem again. :)

P.S. You can also change the mb setting WITHOUT deleting that hidden file. Go to Edit / Preferences and change the "DVD-5" setting to "Custom," then put in the mb you want (as I said, I have mine set at 4,300 so I never have to worry about the DVD burning all the way to the edges). When you click OK, Shrink should show you the Tupac movie with a new percentage.

Thank you for your help, I really appreciate it.

It just doesnt seem to work. I go to edit> preferences> target dvd size to custom 4300 mb. At the top the bar has a little red and reads 4512 mb. I uninstalled and reinstalled the program again. I deleted the files from documents and settings>all users> ..etc. I put the movie back in the tray and try it again but the same thing keeps happening. Is it possible the movie is just too big to be shrunk down to the amount I need? Or could there be other options I need that I dont have selected.

Im not familiar with the tupac disc. But its possible that it has, not only lots of special feature, but maybe two versions of the same movie, one in widescreen, and one in full screen. In which case if you dont want to reauthor, and omit some of those feature. You can use the new dvd shrink, and blank what you dont need with a still image. If you dont want to blank anything then shrink it once, open up your files, in the open files option in shrink, and shrink it again(the picture quality may suffer tho)
    good luck

Yes the dvd is 7.77gb. It shows the movie once but it has alot of extra interviews that I would like to keep. How do I go about using the still image? Would that help to get rid of the movie previews?

Yes you can, just highlight what you dont want on the left.Under extras, go through each one, and decide what you want, and dont want, and then on the right where it says video, theirs a dropdown box, click still image. You can use the defualt pic they have their, or choose one of your own.The new shrink lets you do this without disabling the menu, its great imho
