Hey guys, so I hardmodded my Wii a long time ago but my modchip fried. I have the ORIGINAL Wii (got it the day it came out). I took it apart last November and it has been sitting ever since hopefully one day I would buy another chip but then I see that this softmod came out so I have a few questions about it. I have been reading around and just want to clarify some stuff about it. Can I play backups from disc's with this softmod? If I were to hook up an external HD and use this can I boot up (iso's or wads) straight from the EHD and not require any discs for games? Can I still play game on the internet with a soft mod? What is the current latest Wii Firmware Version. If my Wii is below 4.0 and I need to update it to get it softmodded What path should I go to update it? straight from the Nintendo network or what? Yes Yes Yes 4.1 I updated to 4.1 through official Nintendo servers, and just soft modded from there, but you may not want to update. That is up to you. For the most part, the majority of soft modding techniques does not care what firmware you have.
