I have been playing around with nero and some other programs for a couple of days now trying to convernt some avi files to dvd... I have run into a few problems and have no idea how to fix them. a little help would be great... I did a clean uninstall of my nero 6 and downloaded the newest version from ahead's website.. Nero 6.6.0.15a. I know i am not supposed to install InCD when i install the program, but it doesn't ask me which programs i want to install...So i installed the whole thing and then ran the INCD cleanup tool. this gave me access to Nero burning 6 to burn my video_ts files. It played on my t.v. fine for about 10 minutes and then it just froze. I read that i needed to make sure that my firmware for my dvd burner was up to date. i have an internal memorex true 8Xn 1.G1 or something like that dvd burner. I went to memorex's site and they had a patch for nero 6 and new firmware for this burner that i downloaded. but when trying to open them they said that my drive wasn't the right drive for that file???? and i know there is only one kind of memorex internal true 8X burner? and on top of that my Nero will not burn cd's now, it says my mp3 files are not compatible, and i don't have acess to nero burning rom anymore. so i'm pretty much screwed, and stuck to say the least. any help would be much appreciated. thanks in advance for everything
Hi Dstanley, I'm a little confused with yoru posting. First you say you downloaded Nero 6 from our website and installed, but it forced you to install InCD? How did that happen exactly? InCD is Package #3, and Nero 6 Express is Package #1, and NeroVision Express is Package #2. All of which download and install seperately. Only if you were installing from a Nero Installation CD does it allow you to install more than one program at a time. But you say you have a Memorex Drive, and their suite only installs Nero, NeroVision and Nero PhotoShow Express using the 'Install Suite' button. Or you can instal each program individually by clicking each button that represents each program in the Multi-Installer. Next, you say you are working with an AVI file to create a DVD-Video disc, but Nero Express can not do this. Nero Express can copy DVDs, or take Video_TS folders or VOB files to create a DVD, but not AVI or MPEG files. So I hope you mean you are using NeroVision Express to create a DVD-Video disc from an AVI file. But then again, you later state you used Nero Burning ROM 6 to burn your Video_TS files to DVD. So you are all over the place in this posting, which makes it difficul to properly respond to. Now, that DVD You created that plays on your TV for 10 minutes, I assume you are playing through a DVD Player, correct? If you take that same DVD and go to your Computer and play it there, does it have any problems playing back? If it does play back on your computer without problems, then you may need to use a different brand of DVD Media to burn to, or try a slower speed, as your DVD Player is having trouble reading the media. If it does have trouble there as well, then the firmware upgrade for your recorer could be critical, but again a different brand of media may resolve your issue. thanks for the reply sorry about being ambiguous in my last post. I'll try to clear some stuff up for you. I downloaded the first two packages from the nero website and installed them. After that first time i still cannot access nero burning rom 6. i used the last free version of divXtoDVD by vso to convert my avi file. i now have the newest version of WinAvi to convert. i am playing on my dvd player when it freezes. when i play the .vob file in nero showtime it works fine. this is my first avi to dvd try though i have done many copy's and they have played fine in my dvd player. i will try to burn slower this next try. i talked to memorex and they said that i already have up to date firmware updates. i am using verbatim 8x R-. so i guess my real only question now is how do i access nero burning rom 6 and still be able to burn cd's??? i have tried uninstall many times and reinstall and cd burning now works, but i can't access nero burning rom 6. thanks again for all the help man
Hi Dstanley, Nero Burning ROM is only available to Retail users. YOu have a Memorex Bundle, and only have access to Nero Express. You could remove the Serial key from within the Nero StartSmart Product Center and then run in Demo mode for 30 days, and then you would have acces to Nero Burning ROM. But Nero Express can do most things that Nero Burning ROM can do, so there is really no need. Nero Burning ROM has more control, but nothing that can address the issue you are running into. Nero Burning ROM and Nero Express use the same NeroAPI engine. You could try using the latest NeroVision Express 3.1.0.14 and take the original AVI file and see if it will work with that AVI file to create your DVD-VIdeo disc, and see if it then plays back fine on your DVD Player. But it does sound like a media issue if the DVD disc you created plays back fine on the computer and only has trouble with the DVD Player. Regards, Craig Nero Inc USA
i have the bundle with start smart and express and vision express. i like the use other programs to decode my avi files and then burn with nero burning rom 6. i was able to pull it up once, but it is not an option now on my applications tab in nero startsmart. thanks again
