Hi guys, apologies if I posted in the wrong area, but I figured this would be the best place.
Up until November 2007, I subscribed to Verminmedia broadband, I originally subscribed in 2001 through Telebest. During this period I never took out any other service from either Vermin or Telebest.
A few days ago, I plugged in a original cable box which I borrowed from friend into the service point and hooked it to my T.V and to my surprise received all the channels he was subscribing to. I have to give the box back to my friend as he in the process of cancelling his contract with vermin so he will obviously give the box back.
The questions I have are the following:
Would a Dreambox, Eurovox or a Starview box work with my cable connection even though I dont subscribe to any their services?
If yes, which box do you guys recommend?
How easy is the set up process?
And do I have to continually update the box to receive all the channels?
Thanks in advance, and I am sorry if these are dumb questions, I am just not very technically savvy!
    Regards Sajid.

Only as long as you cable remains live, ie 'has a suppliers feed'. Either of the boxes you mention would work, providing they are Cable boxes not Satellite boxes. You say you are not very Techy so I would try and steer away from the Dreambox although they are very good have a steep learning curve and need a Broadband connection for best results.I prefer the Starview or Starview PVR for simplicity in setting up and auto updating (Set and forget) is and easy discription. Can't say about the Eurovox as I don't have one maybe some one else can do a comparison IF they have had and tried both

Thanks for the prompt reply jbvideo, I just need to make my mind up about which box I want now!
I am usually o.k technically, its just I get a bit impatient when things don't go as they should, so therefore would prefer something which is less hassle to set-up and maintain.
I guess its just a case of doing some further research , but at the moment I am probably leaning towards the Eurovox, and the DReambox is my 2nd choice.
If anyone can provide further feedback, especially those that have owned any of the boxes, I would appreciate it greatly.
    Cheers.
