Just replaced my broken psp with a slim psp2001 w/v3.71 software.

Got a 4gig memory stick to get going and I noticed on my dvdfab platinum, there's a dvd to psp option.

Is this possible on a stock psp without downgrading my firmware? As far as I know, there is no downgrade for this current version.

What would you recommend to rip if dvdfab isn't a good program to do this with?

Any advice that would get me going in the right track since I've never done this before would be helpful. I appreciate your help.

    Happy 2008!!

Yes you don't need custom firmware to play the movie/video. DVDFab will create a mp4 that can be played on the PSP.
Since you already have DVDFab Platinum I would use it. Good thing is it will also remove the copy protection on the commercial dvd's.

Yep - when it's converting the video to an mp4 format that the psp accepts it's also reducing the size.
I'm not sure the exact end size w/ DVDFab but Nero's is around 500mb so I would think DVDFab would be similar.
