For 1000 pounds (2000 dollars?) you can get a pretty damn nice PC. Go to falcon northwest their Talon computer is a pretty good computer at 2079 dollars.
This is the Packard bell it's called: iXtreme 8510, I think you can buy it on the Packard Bell website, but I'm not sure, here are the specifications: * Intel Core 2 Duo E6550 Processor * Windows Vista (R) Home Premium * 256MB nVidia Geforce 8600GTS Graphics * 8500 GT Nvidia graphics technology with DirectX 10 * 320GB Hard Drive * 2048MB DDR2 RAM * Multi-Format Dual Layer DVD Rewriter Drive * 15-in-1 Media Card Reader * 6 USB Connections * 1 PCI Slot, 2 PCI*1, 1 PCI*16 * 19" LG Widescreen TFT
Go for another one. That computer is good, but the graphics cards aren't that hot. Go for something with the 8800 GTS,
I found another Packard bell with 8800 GTS except it's over £1000 ($2000) so too expensive but I found out that I can buy the graphics card separate and it works out cheaper : Here is the expensive computer specs: * Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 Processor * Windows Vista (R) Home Premium * 320MB nVidia Geforce 8800GTS Graphics * 8800 GTS Nvidia graphics technology with DirectX 10 * 640GB Hard Drive + 250GB Portable Media Drive * 2048MB DDR2 RAM * Multi-Format Dual Layer DVD Rewriter Drive * 8-in-1 Media Card Reader * 6 USB Connections * 2 PCI Slots, 1 PCI*16, 3 PCI*1 * Water Cooling System * 22" LG Widescreen TFT
Wait a second! The 8800GT is a better performing card than the 8800GTS 640mb version. It is also cheaper too. There is a new 8800GTS 512mb card that is going to be released some time this month, so I would wait. The new GTS is supposedly on par with a GTX from the benchmarks that I've seen.
