Hi all, been reading the threads for a couple of days now - keep up the good work!

I just have one quick question; I'm currently signed up to Virgin Media (I have their TV, Cable & Phone service.) And i have just just purchased a Starview PVR Box. Now my question is, do i need to cancel the Virgin TV part of my deal? Or can i just go ahead and plug the Starview box in and get cracking straight away?

I was just a bit paranoid that they might "know" if my box has been unplugged, and they could tell if i was using a Starview box...

Does vm have talkback, like n*l? If so, shouldn't he leave the vm box plugged in too

That's right. They have it on n*l, so they can see what you are watching.
Obviously to make sure you haven't some how got access to something you shouldn't have. I'd suggest trying to find out from some of the other members have an idea about it.
In the mean time, use a splitter, one side to the vm box, and the other to your starview, that way you can watch ever you want, and if the other box does have talkback, they won't know the difference, just change channels occasionally.

Just a Y connector, like as if you wanted to run you're aerial connection to 2 tvs. Plug your incoming cable into one side of the Y, and on the side, have one connection to your vm box, and one to your starview.

Check your pm in a minute, I'll send you a link with a picture.

    Ahhh yeh, i know them.

    Thumbs up for the help!

What cable provider do you have? Would you recommend buying one of those splitters and leaving my Virgin box plugged in?

I'm across the sea, on n*l.
Until you find out if it has talkback, I think I'd definitely get the splitter. It'll only cost a few quid for the splitter, and 2 bits of coax.
Could save you a lot of money, instead of them finding out what's going on.

Now that I think of it, if there is an ordinary RF out / aerial out, whatever it's called on the vm box, you shouldn't need a splitter.
Just connect the aerial out of vm box to the RF in / Aerial in on the SV.
