I recently purchased a Tevion VS-USB2800D DVD maker. The instructions are extremely poor and I was wondering if anybody could help. I don't even know where to start setting it up, what should each connection be plugged into? I wanted to convert some old VHS tapes to DVD but have been unable to do so so far. I have set up the hardware on the computer and connected the DVD maker into the USB port. Where do I go from here? There doesn't seem to be a socket on the TV/Video/DVD to plug the other end into. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

For starters just use the yellow, red and white composite plugs. These should match up with their corrasponding colors on your vcr and Tevion. Yellow is video, red/white is left/right audio. The Tevion will eccept this input and send it to computer via the usb cable. In brief- vcr output goes into Tevion input- Tevion output goes thru usb- your computer does the rest.
Thank you pfh. I needed it in laymans terms because of my newbie status. I can connect the Tevion DVD maker to my computer but there doesn't seem to be a way of connecting it to my video. Is my video not compatible??? It is fairly new but there doesn't seem to be anywhere for the DVD maker to plug into. The video only seems to have the usual aerial and scart connections but nothing else.
If all you have on your vcr is a scart connection output then it sounds like you'll need a scart to composite adapter so you can plug it into the Tevion. I am not familiar with scart- I only use S-video or composite. And I'm not exactly sure about the Tevion. Do you have the web site address?
As far as I'm aware pfh, Tevion do not have a website address. I have searched the internet with not much success. I will either try and obtain an adaptor so that I can use the scart or try using a compatible VCR player. Thank you for your help - it is greatly appreciated.
Also having problems with Tevion VS-USB2800D DVD maker. My USB ports do not need updating. I have installed the device on a USB 2.0 port. I have installed PVR but the screen remains blank. The VCR is connected via a scart lead (at one end) and a red white and yellow cable at (the other end). I have not connected the S-video lead. My PC is an intel pentium 4 (2.6 Ghz) with 512 of RAM. What am I doing wrong?
Tasumu - did you purchase a seperate scart connection for your DVD maker or was it already complete with scart connection??? Mine just has the red, yellow and white plugs along with the S-Video connection.
Is this what it looks like?: http://qpine.com/DVDmaker.htm If so then I don't think you'll be happy with the ability of this product. It is a software dependant capture solution and has no internal hardware to change the anolog vhs signal to digital before it enters the computer. Do yourself a favor and get hardware based device. A lot of people are having great results with the Hauppauge line of cards (not the 150's)- 250's and up. And myself and others are having great results with the Plextor ConvertX 402's. That said, you'll still need a scart adapter as these devices only accept composite or s-video.
asiles - The DVD maker did not come with a scart connection. I have a lot of leads collected over the years and the particular one I am using used to connect a DVD player to a TV with no problem. You can pick up one from most electronics stores. pfh - That is exactly the product I have. It is supposed to do what it says on the box. You seem to be saying I have wasted my money and it will not work. Is there anyway I can get TVR to at least show me the VCR output? My difficulty with hardware based devices is tha they need installation of an internal card. I have had so many problems with PCs over the years that I am hesitat to open mine up again. Is there any good external device?
The ConvertX is an external usb device and this has been my experience with it: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/159536 The Hauppauge makes a pci and an external usb 250 device that are essentially identical aside from the connection. PCI cards are not hard to install and work well with "slower" machines. The usb devices will require a decent spec'ed computer. Your 2.6 ghz is capable but hard drive rpm should be 7200 or better and it's best if you have a separate drive to do video with. Your current situations- hmmmm. Try all the suggestions you can find; minimize background apps., free contiguous drive space, etc.
