I am planning on purchasing this motherboard but I have a couple questions, if someone can help I would appreciate it:

What functionality does having 'line-in/line-out' give me? What is S/PDIF Out (optical)and what does it allow me to do?

    Thank you for your help!!

hello the line in/out is used for connecting various audio devices such as record players, cd players, pretty much anything with a headphone jack to record or record onto, or just to listen, the optical output would be used for surround sound systems for dolby digital 5.1 and the equivalent, basically for digital audio, really a great feature for games and movies, if you don't want to buy a separate sound card.
