I have a friend with the Abit KT7A mobo. He said when he turns the computer on he now gets 4 long beep. I went to the Abit site and they said the problem was the "system timer is not counting properly". I have no idea what that means. Is his mobo dead or is this an easy fix. Thanks in advance for the advice.
don't think that is the problem as can post boards without batteries. try clearing the cmos as have seen that kickstart a board back to life.
OK,I am no longer a "jenius". This is part of an email I recieved from my freind on the same computer. "We are sort of limping along here. When we do a warm boot and the desktop, etc come back up, Windows Help windows start popping up. If you are patient enough (I am, Roy is not)you can close about 300 of these windows before the demons retreat and we can log on to the internet ALSO, while it is booting up, it makes really bad noises like the weak beep I mentioned to you and there is also a sqawk in there now. But once you get past all that, it runs like a champ!" I haven't looked at the computer to see where the "sqawk" is coming from. Any suggestions would be helpfull. I will pick up the computer Wed. Thanks in advance for the help.
The squak could be the hdd, but could be a lot of things, best thing is to get back to us on weds with where the noise is cuming from.
