I hardly use this program anymore but I was curious to try out some new releases so I tried DIARY OF A MAD BLACK WOMAN and it ripped it perfectly and burned nice! I was surprised to see that it still works...... are others having success with this program and NEW DVDS? I'm asking this cause my brother bought the same computer as I did and he wants to back up his DVDs and he really is a NEWBIE! I think a one click type of program is right up his alley so I was thinking he should start with this program. And if it is still working with new DVDs ....... why not! he's so new to this and doesn't know anything!

IMHO you would be better off investing in AnyDVD and CloneDVD. AnyDVD just runs in the background and using CloneDVD is just one click. These programs are only 60.00 are updated regularly and can do newer protections. AnyDVD can be used with other programs. My two cents :~)

thank you for your 2 cents..... I was just curious about my old program!!!!! I am runing DVDDecrpter till it craps out, then using DVDRemake, then DVDRebuilder and finally CopytoDVD. I've been burning before Shrek came out (the original one)! I'm experienced and have been learning more and more about burning and encryptions and DVD structure every day since I joined the forums (about a month or so ago). You've been around and I have noticed that you give very informative guidance! Thank you for responding ...... I just wanted to know if anyone else is having success with DVDXcopy Plat. It still working!! to my shock!

I still have my old Xcopy and it was a good program, but for your buck you are better off with AnyDVD, and CloneDVD has good editing capabilities like being able to split a movie and keep menus on both disks, this works out well for the episodal disks where you do not want all that compression. I usually use CloneDVD or Recode to compress to my harddrive but use Copy to DVD to burn. Xcopy uses VSO burning engine which is what CopytoDVD uses so you are getting the good quality.

I know about AnyDVD and CloneDVD...... but I like my hands on DVDDecrpter and DVDRemake..... you can do the same thing with them as you so with those two programs..... and it's all what you are used to, I guess. Anyway.... I just tried to burn THE JACKET and DVDXCopy did a great job..... the only thing I don't like about it is the 321 BACKUP-DVD page and you can't do hands on removal or editing of the menus like you can with DVDRemake. But I must say after seeing how it compressed ....... the movie looks decent! I used DVDRebuilder with CCE and that does a great job to keep quality and compression down to a min. But I am very surprised to see DVDXCopy Plat still up and ripping NEW DVDs!

Not all the new dvd releases have the new encryption on them. Some newer movies still use the old encryptions that X Copy, and Shrink can still handle. Like Arniebear stated, if you are going to spend money for software, I would go for the Clonedvd/ Anydvd package. Just another opinion.

did you read my first statement? I am just wondering about DVDXCopy Plat for my brother! hahahahaha I have AnyDVD and CloneDVD and DVD43 and DVDDecryter, and DVDRemake, and DVDRebuilder and CopytoDVD and Nero and DVDInfo and DVD Identifier and DVD X Utilities and DVDShrink and MySonic DVD and REcordNow and I know how to use them.... sorry for being sarcastic... don't mean to......... I've been burning for years now....... I know about DVD Structure...... I know that some new DVDs don't have the latest encryptions to block backups...... but I can handle the ones that do! I was just wondering if DVDXcopy Plat still works and it seems to be EVEN ON NEW DVDs.....my brother is just getting to start recording and wanted a one click dvd program....... I did have DVDFab Decrypter, and 1clickDvd but since I have what works for me and I am happy with them I can pick and choose which to use when I find out that it doesn't work............ the Champ for me is DVDDecrypter, DVDRemake, DVDRebuild and then CopytoDVD .......until they don't work I will use them! but soooooooo far sooooooooooooo good! thank you!

DVDXcopy was just updated about a month ago, before that it had not been updated for sometime. Their support is rather inconsistent for the program. Also, if you really want to know if the program is worth investing in then test it on a tough movie like Hitch and see if it works, then spend your money.

This is just a [bold]suggestion[/bold] so take it as such. I would edit that last statement. How you get your software is your business but bragging about it (which is basically what I think you are doing) is a bad idea. Piracy of any type is not allowed on AD and shouldn't be a topic you post about. I'm not trying to come down on you but a MOD might if they read your post.

to ihoe. i also use dvdxcopy pla. from time to time and i also find that still does a great job. i have the ripper free version which doesn't give the warning sign at the beguinning. fing it and use it with dvd43 free in back ground, it works nicely; still one of the best picture quality.

I have DVDXcopy Plat but have not used it for a few months now. I must say while it was great for me starting out I found the quality of the DVD copies it produces especially DVD's in excess of 2 hrs to be wanting.

I dont' remember burning a DVD over 2 hours with DVDXCopy Plat, so I will trust your judgement about this! I will let my brother try it and if he has problems with it I'll guide him to other programs. I think to just get his feet wet burning a DVD backup with his new computer and this program will get him into it and then he's on his own.

I am still pleased with my Plat, lots here knock it, but I have had & still get good results. There are not many films that I have not been able to copy with it. I also use AnyDvd, I use the RF version all the time.

    Just my 2 cents.

@ Trom, 2hrs? Why so long? Tops for my set up is 40mins absolute max.

    IHoe,

I noticed you said you have AnyDVD, that is probably why XCopy Platinum works for you.

If your gonna stick with Platinum, best is to get the RF version and use DVD Decrypter with it.

well........ I used DVD43 with DVDXcopy Platinum nad it seems to work fine...... but I like CloneDVD2 with DVD43 or AnyDVD...... I like to just have the movie without the 321 screen.

A side note, to get platinum 40415rf to work you must have a legal platinum with ripper product installed and activated. Meaning none of the stuff you get off the open net if you understand what I mean!
Platinum rf will activate off the platinum with the ripper. And rf doe not have the 321 start up nag screen.
And it will burn the video_ts files off the hard drive.
Also you will need a ripper for rf, and so far the best ripper out is Anydvd. 5321 is the latest.
The transcending in rf is very good. And on par with Decrypter
I have use platinum rf and Anydvd with the sony protection..

I have been using DVD43 and it hasn't failed me yet! New movies or old! Doesn't matter. I use DVD43 with DVDCopy3 and it works just fine. I like the old DVDXCopy Plat ..... it was my first program....... and I would love to have the RF, too!
