about my hard drive...

    i have just bought a 160gb hard drive and partition it in half and use it as an external. i plug it in my usb 2 and it takes a while for my laptop to recognize it. is there any way to make my laptop recognize it faster? or i have to reformat my hard drive again?

    what usb version is the laptop & the external hd? how long is awhile??

    both of them are usb2...and it takes like more than a minute to recognize it.

    what windows are you using & what is the system specs of the laptop?

    try this. go to my computer when hard drive is connected. then go to that drive letter and properties. you will see autoplay on 2nd tab. for select action to perform, choose no action for every category.
