been having some weird problems towards the end of my DVD buring...the movie starts skipping and the audio goes out of sync .... I just purchased a DVD burner and had no idea how the quality of the dvd would impact the final product. Let me just get to the point here, I purchased a 100 pack of Ridata blank DVDs and I am wondering are these DVDs crap???again the brand name is RIDATA

    Thanks for the help

assuming ( this seems to be getting more common these day's)you are using dvd5's try settings during compression cahnge your defaults to around 4300 to avoid writing to close to the edge. gee I wished I knew if this would fix the problem. I wished there was a way to know what programs you are using or if you get any errors during the use of such programs

free tool to see the true nature of your media is dvd infopro

^^^Sorry for not being too clear, I am using 16X RIDATA DVD + R. For programs I am running DVD Decrypter and CloneDVD2. On a side note I have a great deal more problems trying to run these DVDs on a 4 + year old DVD player VS a 1 year old DVD player....could the problem be that the older DVD player doesnt recognize the DVD + R format??? Lastly using the programs I have WHERE do I go to change my compression defaults to around 4300????

    Thanks for your help :)

I don't know about changing target size for clone dvd2 I don't use it but you might be able to booktype your dvd+r discs to dvd-rom thus greatly improving compatability. Not all makes of drives can do this however. What brand and model dvdrw do you have? Also what speed are you burning at?

^^^Brand and model DVD burner are ..... LITEON - SOHW 1693S ...thats is there newest 16X burner ....and as for speed I tried burning at 16x but that didnt go to well....so now I have slowed down the burn all the way to a mere 2x .....less problems but it takes up too much of my time :p

go here and use lite-on's booktype utility

    http://www.liteonit.com/ODD/English/e_downloads/e_utility.asp

    here is a guide

    www.liteonit.com/ODD/Zip/BookTypeManual_e.pdf

if you use decrypter to burn it also has a booktype feature for lite-on's
click on the book in the bottom right corner, click on lite-on tab, change for next write, then select dvd-rom,click change, hit ok and your done

    Bigfatboy,

Ya beat me to it and took the words right out of my mouth.

    mzoopa,

Here's another link to the lite-on booktype utility and you can find the usage guide there too. http://club.cdfreaks.com/showthread.php?t=83441

Try useing dvd shrink and setting the target size to 4350 or maybe even 4300 if 4350 doesn't solve the problem. You really shouldn't have to burn any slower than 4x with that media, 8x may even be ok. I don't recommend burning at 16x though.
