Im having problems here updating. I just got my comp built and running. Slightly oc to 2.48. Its a epox mobo ep-9npaj and a amd 64 athlon 64 3700+ san diego. Now here is the problem. I noticed they had new nforce drivers and a new processor driver. My processor driver is a yr out of date and the nforce is out about 3 months. Now here is the problem. I cant update. I try updating and windows revert back to the old ones according to device manager. I even tried booting into safe mode...shutting plug and play off....and wipping all processor and nividia files out. Then tried it again. Same fusking thing. Its making me pull my hair out. It just took me three hrs to get my hp printer drivers on...what a crock their setup proggy. And now this shit..someone plz help... Last result I can think of is a wipe and new installation, but I just got everything set up the way I like it..lol Heres the amd updates http://www.amd.com/us-en/Processors/TechnicalResources/0,,30_182_871_9706,00.html Edit...anybody need the nforce..let me know...i will post the link nividia nforce newest drivers http://www.nvidia.com/object/nforce_nf4_winxp32_amd_6.66.html
its funny i had the exact same problem i woul download these updates from the windows update website but it would fail to install them. I had no idea why and it annoyed me at first but i do have different hardware than you but the problem is the same. All i know is if your pc works fine just now then leave it alone the updates do not exactly provide any decent improvments as long as everything works fine then theres no need to update the or stress over it right ?
Well see thats the thing. I keep getting surges in the speakers...almost like someone is blowing into a mike. I know it aint the speakers, because they were hooked to a factory hp for 3 months with no problems. This is driving me fusking nuts. I just uninstalled everything...booted into safe mode. Then I finished wiping everything out with driver cleaner and then reinstalled everything including the processor update...no fusking changes.....ggggrrrrrr..... Well thanks for respomdimng....if no one else has any ideas...then I guess Im gonna wipe it...
try going into the advanced audio panel and muting any devices that arent used such as mono out or phone in sometimes these cause a buzz
I did tried that to no avail. When I installed the nividia updates it wipe out realtek equalizer and installed nividia equalizer...now the strange noises seem to have gone away, but I would still like the updated drivers. My processor is from may 2004...thats ridiculous...
UPDATE... Well I just did a clean install. Did sp1 the sp2...then the nividia updates and cpu driver using the new ones downloaded off the net. Same fricken drivers as if I had used the cd that came with the mobo..what gives?
YES....it for whatever reason is reverting to the original.....even know Im installing the updated ones off the net.. The only things that changed were the audio and lan drivers. Mow instead of realtek I have nividia...which seems to run better. None of the static I was having and popping is gone here are the version numbers I got if you dont believe me...s after a clean format.... Ide version 5.10.2600.534 5/17/2005 Processor 1.2.2.0 10/26/2004 lan 4.8.2.0 4/6/2005 ..................... This is what comes with the nividia update Audio driver 4.62 (WHQL) Audio utilities 4.51 Ethernet driver 4.82 (WHQL) Network management tools version 4.88 SMBus driver 4.45 (WHQL) NVIDIA PATA RAID driver 5.34 NVIDIA SATA RAID driver 5.34 (WHQL) NVIDIA SATA IDE driver 5.34 (WHQL) NVIDIA RAID Application 4.82 Installer 4.78 Windows 2000 Driver Versions ``````````````````````````````` This nividia is just sscrewed up period. According to their release everything is whql...but when I installed it half wasnt digitally signed. It never even installed the sata drivers like it would if I used the mobo cd.....I dint do nothing except install windows..sp2...processor...nividia...in that order...then windows update.... This is really something fucked up here...anyone has answers?
the board & drivers are newer than xp & if nvidia didn't pay ms to certify the software than won't be digitally certified
Okay ddp that explains why they arnt certified, but how come it reverted back to an older version instead of the newer one?
your lan is the same version. as long as you have the most recent drivers from the manufacturers than don't worry about ms. ran into same problem on a computer i am finishing. all the updated drivers from the chipset manufacturers not board manufacturers & ms had 3 hardware updates that i know is older than what i just installed
Thats the thing....these updates are straight from nividia. There was no ide or anything installed....then I loaded up the processor and nvidia updates...now its back to what it was....I dont get it. These are not from microsuck...I installed nividia updates straight from nividia and amd processor driver straight from amd........I dont get it...its as if it ignored those and installed the older ones except the lan and sound driver
