Ok, so I'm trying to play a video file that has AC3 sound codec. I've got FFDShow and AC3 filter. I've tried on VLC and MPC, I get the sound but the problem is certain directions give 0 sound at all. I have a 5.1 speaker system and have enabled it through control panel. For example, I can hear everyone in a room but when there's a news announcement on the television (within the movie) I cannot hear what the reporter is saying, it's as if her sound channel is turned off... What's the problem and how can I fix it? Thanks in advance. Edit-- My Speaker system isn't an optical/ spdif type. It's straight forward gree, black, orange wires. 5.1
Is this a general problem or one file. Playing the file with VLC, select 'Audio' - 'Audio Device' - '5.1'. If I wanted to examine the actual audio, I would (if it were an AVI file) load the AVI into 'Belight' and split the audio into six mono wav files then load them into 'Audacity' and check the playback at the place on the time line where the problem appears to see if the audio is defective.
I've done that with VLC, that's where the problem starts. If I try 4.1 then I can hear the sound all clearly, 5.1 the centre speaker sounds muffled. The audio files are all perfectly fine too.
