i have extracted the audio into a demuxed .ac3 file using virtualdubmod and i have also extracted a .m2v using tmpgenc plus when i load them into tmpgenc dvd author though it tells me the audio type is 'illegal' i read something once saying you have to 'fix' the ac3 file so that it works in all the authoring packages can anyone shed some light? much appreciated
I think I know what you can do to fix that... -Try repair the ac3 with beslice. Download beslice from here ( http://dspguru.notrace.dk/BeSlicedv0.2.zip ) and put all files in one folder. Run beslice.exe. 1. Drag the ac3 file on the beslice window 2. and choose Fix File!. 3. A command line window will appear and create a new working ac3 file. VoilĂ !
that link doesnt seem to be working i have managed to convert my avi straight to dvd using winavi worked pretty well and saved me headache may i ask why alot of ppl go through splitting the audio and encoding and all that stuff using three or more different programs if its that easy in winavi? is there some problems with certain files or something?
There's been problems (especially audio out of synch) after d/l movies when encoded to MPEG. That has been corrected extracting the audio from the original file and encoding only the video part. I've used WinAVI and have been lucky enough not to have problems, but if you ever have a problem about audio then you should do as explained. Hopefully it'll solve your problem. Perhaps that link is dead by now, weird because I've downloaded the program two months ago, in any case google for it and you'll find it.
