    Hi

My son is being cyber bullied but is too shy to show me the messages. I need to get into his iPhone to assess the urgency and maybe get the school or police involved.

Is there a way to do this without resettting the phone and wiping all the data?

Are you saying that your son is old enough and tech savvy enough to disallow you from accessing the content of his iPhone? If he's being "cyber" bullied, what's that got to do with school or the police?

Why don't you advise him to delete his social media accounts & stay off them. Better still take the phone off him & don't give it back till he's matured enough. It will also force him to find other pursuits as tech is destructive to young people. You could start by addressing why he has no self confidence, is it because he has his head in his phone all day ? if not then where did his shyness stem from & why. Here's an exercise he can do to boost his level of confidence. Go to where many people are. As he's walking with his back straight & shoulders back slightly. Keeping his chin up, as people come past he makes eye contact & smiles at them. Keep doing this until he's comfortable, it may take a day or more. Once he's settled he could then do the same thing but say good morning to random strangers. This exercise will slowly build confidence. He could even strike up a convo with any sales clerk etc. Getting a job where you are in retail is also a good way as your forced to talk to customers. Next he needs to start holding eye contact along with a smile & not looking away like most do. If someone else holds eye contact he must nod up not down. Staying calm & centered is also a must & needs practice. Finally he should be introduced to corey wayne on youtube & sign up to corey's news letter at his website, from there advise him to listen to corey's pod cast & read his book "how to be a 3% man" (it's free) on coreys website. It could help you as well

if you live in the usa, and the child is under 18, you might be able to take it to a apple store and request that they unlock the device. You will have to prove that you are the parent/guardian of the child.
