    i've seen a plethora of users i've talked to before have a sign that says "banned till x" or permanently so i was wondering if the mods could make a obituary of a sort where u could look up a user and it shows u the thread/page that the user got banned on

    There's no need, it happens for a reason, the reason being the various status's under the nickname.

    but that's not right is it R? I know what is meant..

    what the OP needs to do is look and see who was friends with the lost ones.. ddp is a genius on that respect. the database king

    all it says is suspended until xxx or suspended permanently. but the master of the DB jungle can help you uot.. I'd suggest by PM tho.. some people don't want new accounts outing.

    by the by

    I know you hadn't caught this one R.. ddp had it flagged :lol: decided not to bother giving you a random IP from a remote shell.. just be me.. no harm.

    also I quite understand you not wanting to get involved with certain shite that happens.. it's part of a bigger picture..

    advertising revenues above all. :lmao:

    take care of yourself.. no damp this year.. hope the kids have a good halloween ;-) regardless of some things that have been flying about.. I know you are just doing your job.

    @creaky
    i think that there is a need cuz of closure and curiosity, for example deadlove was a great user that got perm-banned a little while ago and i'd like to know what happened to her.

    @faqman98 - re 'closure and curiosity' - the only people who 'might' ever need closure are bannee's, (ie in case they don't know why they were suspended/deactivated) but we're certainly not here to satisfy anyone else's curiosity on such matters. The clues to account suspensions or closures are usually in threads, but whether there's clues or not we are not here to provide an 'obituary' service as you call it. Now if a bannee was unsure/didn't agree with why they were suspended or deactivated then of course they could find out why, but again, that's for the bannee to know (in case they didn't know or understand, i mean) but it's no business of anyone else's to need to know..

    @slugfuk - i most certainly did 'know about this one', i usually know/figure out much more than i admit to. but you're right, i am just doing my job; sometimes it's not nice, but sometimes it needs doing nonetheless; i would rather have dealt with certain bannings via PM as opposed to bannings, but for the life of me i can't see why things can get so heated sometimes, so i elected to skip the PM side of things and reach for 'the red button' so to speak. I like and respect the person we're talking about here, just not the way that the forums become a battleground that's all. There needn't be any lost ones at all really, but remember that's not all down to me or other mods, that's mainly down to the lost ones :)

    I think that the some of the Mods around here should stop the favoritism towards the wolves/their buddies and step in to settle a dispute before banning a Senior Member or Addict

    I have been around this site since 2004 and have seen a lot of changes mostly bad. There are still some very good Mods here, it's time to stop all the flaming and make this a better site.

    wolfmanz - this is weeks old news - 'fraid you've got your facts wrong there, i was the one who showed zero favoritism towards my buddies and banning of Senior Members or Addicts happens just the same as if it's a newbie. I was put in a difficult position by having to ban said buddies, so i would advise leaving this be (but only because your facts are wrong, not because you may possibly think i have problem with what you're saying)

    wolfmanz, I think you're getting a bit big for your boots.

    I was on the of the Addicts - who considers himself to be a buddy of creaky's - that was banned and for a good reason. However, I never questioned his actions, I was still respectful to him and I don't hold any type of grudge. even after all this we are still on very good terms on and off the forums.

    Think before you go round accusing next time.

    I have nothing but respect for Creaky he is IMO the fairest and one of the most respected Mods here! If I was to do something to be banned for. I would want Creaky the one who banned me, at least then I would know I deserved it.

    I am not accusing anyone of anything, I just feel there is a better way to handle some of things that go on here.

    @Creaky I will send you a PM to explain my post.

    It's good to see that impartiality is the rule of the day and we can have a wink and a smile. It's always been like that here in reality. If warnings aren't heeded then the big button comes into play.. It's just that some of us like to live dangerously while contributing nothing of any worth ;-)

    ddp & creaky.. Hi guys.. I'm not staying out of trouble at all. Busy learning all about a new console and trying.. yup.. TRYING (grrrrrr) to fix my server before halloween/christmas/the second coming/a dinner date at Milliways.

    With my howdys said, and a big wink to neph I'm on my way back to my new haunts. Y'all take care now, ya hear?

    Keep hitting that "offensive post" button so that we can jump in before the flames get too hot.

    @wolfmanz

    I know where you are coming from, at one point I felt the same way. In the end the mods are equal opportunity banners, I can speak from personal experience!

    Try to keep it all in perspective though. The people on this site, or any site for that matter that kiss mod butt don't deserve your wasted energy. Let them feel cool for being buddy buddy with staff, after all this is just a website. As long as the mods do their job and are notblatantly biased all is good in my book.

    So, does the great OZ know the actual total number of nicks that have been banned and/or have had their accounts terminated for any reason since AD's inception????

    I never was a very political guy. And although, the rank system here is a great incentive for members like us, I really don't pay very special attention to it. I've initially registered here in 2006, and it was just recently that I've ascended to Member status. My purpose here is to help people out with the little knowledge that I have; I learn a little, I help a little. This website is great for social networking, making friends, exchanging ideas and learning altogether. Don't let the whole hierarchy thing consume you. Otherwise, you'll miss out on all the fun. I'll see you all on the Forums.

    Hmmmm ... I came back briefly under a different account and I was accused of "disrespect" for doing so. Others are banned once every two weeks or so, they probably have more accounts than a tree has leaves and it seems that they always return to open and welcoming arms. So, no favoritism? ...yeah, right!

    Ding ding ding, we have a winner!

    +10 for that (is it sad it took me 20 seconds to figure out where the + sign was?) LOL!

    BTW...We lie, we cheat, we steal! :p

    Here's exactly what i said -
    http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_jump.cfm/539722/3484419 - and all i can see there is my usual dry humour at work. Other than pointing out exactly what was said, i'm not gonna bite. There's 3 buddies in this thread who have been given time off by me, unless i'm mistaken i can't see any of them calling me for anything. So again, it's still 'zero favoritism'.
