I just finished a hefty repair on this laptop (charging issue with the wiring in the a/c jack) and everything was working well until I noticed that one of the memory chips was placed in the slot a tad crooked. After fixing it and proceeding to turn the laptop back on, I noticed that the monitor would not respond, and the computer wouldn't even post. (did the same thing when the memory and hd was out but that's besides the point. it's just weird) but after playing around; switching out chips and whatnot i've come to the conclusion that my acer will only boot if i leave the upper slot empty. I can use the lower memory slot but if I try to put anythign in the upper slot - even the one that i know works - it will not even post. I'm hoping the slot isn't shot because that would be a terrible outcome of a seemingly flawless repair but... does anyone have any ideas?
And also check the slot itself and see if all the pins are lined up perfectly, any flaw in the setting of them might cause them to short out when the pressure needed to push the ram in is applied, i had that issue a while ago and im typing on that same comp now. cheers!
