    Hi,
I have an Acer Aspire One with Linux on it. I also have my main home PC running vista. Is there a way to control my Vista machine via the AAO? Something like remote desktop or teamviewer would be great, but the linux version. Is this possible? Please be gentle as I have no experience with linux.

    Thanks
    Dave

Thread title renamed from "Linux Question" which leans towards "Please Help" in the bad thread title stakes.

All i use is 'rdesktop' for this, works great, crashes a fair bit though, i've found it a little crash-happy in a handful of linux distributions.
Which linux are you running, i don't know of any alternative programs but you might find that rdesktop can easily be installed on yours.

    Thanks for the rename! :)

I am running Linpus Linux Lite V1.0.9.E

rdesktop - i have looked at this. Do you know where there is a real simple noob walk through to install and set this up? It's like learning Japanese to me!

    Thanks
    Dave

You'd have to compile it from source ~ http://www.rdesktop.org/#download - as a linux noob it would be hard going, it's not even something i like messing with myself, stuff breaks too easily this way.

I don't know how you install programs in Linpus as i wiped Linpus off my AAO pretty soon after buying the machine, it kept 'freezing' on me so Linpus had to go. Replaced it with XP and the machine now runs 24/7 under XP.
Anyways, see if this helps any ~ http://www.aspireoneuser.com/2008/07/09/aspire-one-advance-linpus-mode-hack/ - to allow some kind of advanced mode thus allowing the install of programs, you should find that rdesktop is listed in the software repositories
