Have a Acer Travelmate 2480 laptop, came with vista but some programs I needed to run wouldn't work under vista. Reformatted and Inst XP PROF, got drivers from ACER, but cannot get he Wireless adapter to fire up. Says That the Atheros device not ready, also comes up with another PCI device that is not installed. Tried all their drivers but still no success...Any ideas?? ThePom Off subject but!!! I got a 2480 off EBay and the SOB insists there are no Passwords. Not true. I have hacked into the OS but I can't get into the eRecovery. Any ideas? Thanks, Joe
Passwords for windows? Why don't you just reformat the disk? Buy a cheap external 2.5" drive adapter, take the laptop's HDD out, put it in that and then use your old computer to clean all the data off, or steal whatever you find ;-) Then put the laptop drive back in and install a nice fresh OS on it!
NO! I need to recover the Password for the Acer Recovery Program. I want to restore it to the Original state. J
A pretty strong reaction to someone trying to help you out with something that isn't even really on topic... Anyway, what were the factory settings on the laptop? You could of course just reinstall windows, it's going to be a lot less hassle than trying to work out how to hack the restore program, and should give you similar results. Unless of course you don't have an XP disc. Who makes the recovery software, is it just Acer or is there some other company behind it?
Sorry, no grief intended. Acer provides a restore Program with a “Hidden” partition on the Drive that replaces the Restore CD’s. If I install a fresh XP OS, I will loose the restore program and will not have access to the hidden partition. No way to install the Acer OEM XP. I will need a new Licence. I have sent a request to Acer for a solution but they are slow. I am hoping to find a Password recovery program for NON Logon passwords. Tall order!!! J
