i have just reformated my hardrive and when i turn the computer on it comes up with new hardware found. it starts to install a acpi multiprocessor. then it say there was a problem with the installation and it give me 2 options, to continue with the installation or stop. if i continue at the next restart the computer comes up with error with a blue screen. but if i stop it everything seems to be fine. if i run all the windows updates the acpi multiprocessor install but the next restart it has the error again. is there a way i can get rid of the acpi multiprocessor or fix the problem?

Please provide PC specs. Mobo, processor, OS installed, etc. We would just be guessing at this point.

But, as my first guess, I woul check for drivers for your chipset from the Mobo manufacturer. If this is a retail machine, check the manufacturers (Dell, Compaq, whoever..) website for chipset drivers. This may solve your issues.
