ok, i just bought a action replay in order to do the softmod, but when i installed the thing, it wouldnt read my card right! so i searched around for a fix, but got nothing from the websites except "reinstall the driver", but they never mentioned anything about the message i was getting when i went to update driver and tryed installing the correct driver instead of the usb mass storage driver... so i looked around a bit and found out that my driver id didnt match the hardware id for my memory card!

for anyone who has this problem, here is the fix
make sure your card is plugged in and working (the wrong way)

    1. get usbview.exe (search for it)
    2. open usbview and find your messed up card, click on it, look for idVendor: 0xyyyy
    idProduct: 0xzzzz
    3. open C:\Program Files\Datel\Action Replay XBOX\Drivers and open up xbreader.ini
    4. delete the digits next to VID_ and PID_ and replace them with yyyy and zzzz
    5. open device manager and update drivers for your card, this time you should be able to use the correct driver :)

this is just incase anyone has this problem, because it plagued me for a good 3 hours before i found the solution here http://forums.xbox-scene.com/lofiversion/index.php/t262740-0.html

no, it was installed right but the light wouldnt turn green because my memory card kept installing the "usb mass storage device" driver when i would plug it in.... then when trying to install a new driver for it, it would tell me that the driver files didnt match my cards hardware id.. so i looked around a bit and found the solution, you have to find out what the hardware id is for your card, and match that in the drivers .ini files so that the driver files will install for the card...

aparently they didnt bundle the correct card with the correct driver files on the cd! you have to force the computer to install the drivers
