I'm really confused right now. I recently scan my computer using Norton AntiVirus Program and detected that Lavasoft Ad-Aware is a threat.

What Am I going to do guys?

[bold]It[/bold] isn't a virus but, it could be infected. Do you have others?

    Here's what I've got..

    1.) Spy Sweeper
    2.) CCleaner
    3.) Norton AntiVirus
    4.) Ad-Aware

Josh99, yeah I kinda agree. I couldn't see any improvment when using Ad-Aware program. Even worst, it always detects that same malware all the time..

But whenever I use Spy Sweeper it doesn't detect anything. And Ad-Aware always detect something that is a threat.

    Which one to trust?

aabbccdd, how do you run Spy Sweeper in safe mode? So I don't need Ad-aware no more?

I think aabbccdd means run it when Windows is in safe mode, restart your PC and hold f5 and select safe mode then run it :)

Schwaber, you can keep ad/adware but if your having problems with it uninstall and reinstall it .Spysweeper is way better though also download Ewido its a free tool.

restart your PC in safe mode and run Spysweeper

also Norton is a sub-par program its actually the worst program i have ever used. i would consider a better virus program. free ones Avast or avg ones you pay for Trend Mirco(thats what I'm using) or NOD32

Ok, I'll get that Avast Anti-Virus Program. Man, I'm really pissed after renewing my Norton Anti-Virus yesterday. I paid like $30 for it. I guess I just have to wait till it expires then I will get the Avast.

aabbccdd, what programs do you have?

Yeah, I did that before but it so threatening. I mean once you delete it, you can't recover it. Do you know how to detect or read the log file from Hijackthis? If so, I'll just show it to you.

Ok, first of all, its called a False Possitve, Ad-Aware Se is not malware as far as I know, Norton may have flagged it because it detected a definition file, you can safely ignore it :)

    @Niobis,

Yes you do, Spy Sweeper doesnt detect everything, no two programs are the same, they do things differently, I have (and ALWAYS have this combination) Ad-Aware Se, Spybot and Ewido for on demand scanners, though I do run Counyerspy in real time I always recomend thoose on demand scanners.

Due to the fact that definitions and detections are different for all of them...
