adaptec videoh!

    hi there, is there anyone out there that can help me get my adaptec videoh! working. Im running xp and using studio 8.12 i was told that it is simple to install and to use... well its simple to install but use well all i get is a capture error, no help from pinnicle help line or from adaptec. I can capture vhs using a tv in card....... anybody else use this combination.... and got it to work ?

    I'm having the same problem with Studio 9. It has my VideoOh! capture device listed as an Adaptec USB Capture, but there is no selection for tuner or composite. The WinDVR video software works, but this isn’t what I want to use. If you get any answers, please let me know.

    I've been having the same problem since November 2003. Worked with Sonic support but they dont have a clue. Then I worked from the Adaptec end. Again No clue.

    Only thing I know for sure is that it's Windows XP specific since I can load the device and software on windows 2000 and it works fine.

    Any help would be great!

    I just had another e-mail from pinnacle suggesting i re-install everything but they never mention Adaptec and say whether it is compatable with xp or not.... im going to try it with 98 and see what results i get..

    I was just working with a tech from Pinacle on this Tuesday.

    They had me uninstall all Pinacle software and reinstall. They even gave me a link to the Version 5 trial software. Nothing worked.

    I really think it's an adaptec problem. Adaptec has drivers for XP, BUT they have not been LOGO tested.

    Using Microsoft Movie Maker (comes with XP) and trying to access the card provides a different error message saying the device is already in use. Since nothing else is using this card and I know it worked under Win2k . . .Pinacle tech(when I got this error) said to contact Adaptec with this error to resolve.

    I havent yet since apdatec is only available the same hours I work, but will try sometime next week to take a long lunch. But I'll post the results here either way.

    adaptec videoh hardware is locked for a particular capturing software and that is windvr and that is the reason it wont be recognised by any other video editing suite. thats a crappy way to make hardware but then it is a way to avod software piracy.

    The Adaptec VideoOh! is well known for being a Problem Device and it"s Capture quality even when it does work is nothing to rave about...You will Probable get better quality useing the Video In on your Graphics card than the Adaptec USB Device....
