My son has a 4 month old 8gig Nano that was working fine until a day or so ago when he was unable to plug the USB charger into the bottom of it to charge. It used to click when he plugged in the cord but now the cord barely goes into the slot. Now it not only does not click but it also won't plug in all the way, which means the IPOD will not charge. We've tried two different cords/adapters. Its like something got jammed into the opening but there's nothing in there. I used canned air to clean out the slot, peered in with a flashlight (for all the good THAT did) and have no clue what happened and the kid is claiming innocence. I searched the site and have found no other similar problems. I tried IPOD's site but it's "down for maintenance."

    Any help appreciated. Thank you!

It's actually the part that plugs into the IPOD, not the computer. That wide, flat piece with the USB connector at the other end of the cord. That flat piece won't click into the IPOD. You can shove it in but it won't click and the IPOD won't charge.

Hope that helps...sorry if I wasn't clear before. I don't know what to call those thingies....

LOL nobody does (think maybe serial port)......try and straiten the pins with plastic clips er something......otherwise your best option would be to take it to the mac store:(

check and see if this store might be of use.....it looks shaggy but is reliable:)

LOL I can't even SEE pins inside the slot. I've had magnifyer and flashlight. Jeez.... I've seen the fixipods site before but don't remember where (maybe when son's last IPOD went all wonky?). I did find three repair shops within 5 miles so that's not bad.

    Thanks for your help!!!
